12.28pm: The start has been officially delayed - but it's not for the reason you think. Apparently West Indies haven't made it to the ground yet. Here's what the update from the ECB says: "Due to a delayed arrival of one of the playing teams, who are stuck in heavy traffic north of the river, the scheduled start of play will be delayed.
Match delayed by the ridiculous London traffic....

Rain prediction 1.45 to 3 .... ground time....
In reply to Onionman0
It's been miserable all morning here in North London, so if it's the same in South London, I'm not optimistic.
1.10pm: England win the toss and bowl, a pretty straightforward call given the conditions.
West Indies, meanwhile, have made three changes, bringing in Shamar Joseph, Sherfane Rutherford and the fit-again Evin Lewis - who made 176 on this ground in 2017 - for Matthew Forde, Shimron Hetmyer and Jewel Andrew
England: 1 Jamie Smith, Ben Duckett, 3 Joe Root, 4 Harry Brook (capt), 5 Jos Buttler (wk), 6 Jacob Bethell, 7 Will Jacks, 8 Brydon Carse, 9 Adil Rashid, 10 Matthew Potts, 11 Saqib Mahmood
West Indies: 1 Brandon King, 2 Evin Lewis, 3 Keacy Carty, 4 Shai Hope (capt & wk), 5 Sherfane Rutherford, 6 Justin Greaves, 7 Roston Chase, 8 Alzarri Joseph, 9 Gudakesh Motie, 10 Jayden Seales, 11 Shamar Joseph
Probably should have walked. We executed a lot better (in the previous match). Executing the plans and ensuring we have a better game. Evin is back, Sherfance is also back, Shamar Joseph also comes in. Hope they make an impact
We are gonna have a bowl. We were on the bus for a while and then we all decided to get off and get on some lime bikes in. We were in a little bit earlier than the West Indies boys, but we are here now ready to go. (Message to the team this morning) We haven't had a chat yet but it's going to be 'let's try to be as dominant as possible.' We have got an opportunity here to try and win the series 3-0 and we're going to giving it our best crack. There was one area - Root's big score - something we didn't have in the first game which is really nice to see. Hopefully a few other lads can have that as well today. I quite like the balance that we've got, we've got a lot of depth with the bat and that gives us opportunities to chase scores like that down the other day where we had a tough start. We've got a good bowling unit as well.
Brandon King is on strike.
Saqib Mahmood will open the attack
0.1
Saqib Mahmood to Brandon King, no run, short of a good length ball that shapes away a bit outside off, left alone
0.3
Saqib Mahmood to Brandon King, wide, outswinger, too wide outside off, Brandon King chases it well away from his body and misses for it be wided
0.3
Saqib Mahmood to Brandon King, 1 run, 135kph, fuller length, King presses forward and pushes to mid-off for a risky single. King has to move around the bowler as well but luckily for him, Brook doesn't collect the ball cleanly
1.4
Brydon Carse to Lewis, FOUR, Lewis gets off the mark with a boundary! 131kph, harmless short ball outside off, Lewis hops and cuts aerially behind square on the off-side. No chance for third man to cut it off

Saqib Mahmood to Brandon King, FOUR, 133kph, Brandon King comes down the track, moves leg-side in the process to free his arms. It's a fullish delivery outside off and the batter reaches out for it by bending and then drives over wide mid-off. Off the bottom part of the bat

Brydon Carse to Lewis, out Caught by Smith!! Gone! Hip-high back of a length ball, Lewis swivels to pull hard, hits him high on the bat and hence the timing isn't spot-on. Jamie Smith flies to his right at shortish midwicket and snaffles it with both hands. Makes a tough catch look easy. Lewis struck a boundary earlier with a similar shot but this one went in front of square as the length wasn't that short. England get the breakthrough.

Saqib Mahmood to Shai Hope, out Caught by Brydon Carse!! Golden duck for Shai Hope! 128kph, with leg gully and deep backward square leg in place, it's been banged in short by Saqib Mahmood, Hope goes after with a pull shot first ball and pays the price. Only manages a top-edge, more height than distance. Carse moves to his left from deep backward square leg to catch it. Mahmood is elated. It was probably a plan that worked perfectly.

15:10 Local Time, 14:10 GMT, 19:40 IST:
The rain has intensified in London. Looks like we will have to wait for quite some time before we see some more cricketing action.
15:45 Local Time, 14:45 GMT, 20:15 IST:
Good news, folks! The rain has stopped and the covers are coming off
Windies cricket have posted on X that play will resume at 4.20pm local time. The match has been reduced to 40 overs per side. So, still around half an hour to go for resumption, let's hope the weather stays clear..
Adil Rashid, right-arm leg break, comes into the attack
15.1
Adil Rashid to Rutherford, no run
Rain done
17.2
Adil Rashid to Keacy Carty, out Bowled!! Chopped on! The feet didn't quite move there for Keacy Carty and he pays the price for it. A tossed up full conventional leg-spinning delivery outside off, Keacy Carty looks to drive through covers but only manages to get an inside edge that goes onto hit the stumps. The rain break has brought a breakthrough for England.

Adil Rashid to Roston Chase, out Caught by Root!! Two in two for Adil Rashid and he is cock-a-hoop! A pair of golden ducks for Roston Chase. The Windies are losing the plot after the rain break. A back of a length delivery outside off, some turn and extra bounce on this occasion, Roston Chase pushes at it tentatively without any feet movement and gets a thick outside edge. Root at first slip fumbles on the first attempt but takes it on the second attempt.

Always positives, great to see Carty, he has shown great progress. Alzarri has been a great enforcer in those middle overs. He's quality, he looks like playing a video game sometimes. Great to see him continue his form, good to see him going well. We need to deepend our core but at the same time also bank on our experience, it is a mixture. We need to win a lot more games to have that automatic qualification.
The way we started was amazing, to get 400 on the board. And today was awesome as well, it was all about being dominant and go 3-0 up in the series. Jacks has been mega down the order, Bethell as well. And Smudge (Smith) tonight. There will be opportunities for Bethell and Jacks to bowl plenty of overs, and I like having that depth with our batting. That's what helped us in Cardiff. Happy to get off the mark, the boys played really well and we'll have a good chat over a drink tonight. We'll celebrate this one.

and now they have to qualify to make the world cup
