The problem is, a decade on, the leagues no longer seek after West Indians as their poster boys/gun slingers and there is currently a rebirth in international cricket.
Pooran has come, now has has gone and nothing has changed in any way shape or form except a whole generation of West Indian cricketers will still be lost aimlessly chasing the wind, or is it, whirlwind? I’d guess that despite the brave heart utterances this means nothing, and for me, pretty much the same. We however live in a time where the size of a wallet and the need to be relevant by association will say otherwise.
What rebirth? dude, they're planning to split international cricket into two tiers starting from 2027 with the West Indies(whose only competitive advantage was consistently beating every opposition we faced, which we lost 30 years ago this year) firmly in the cellar tier with the likes of afganistan, zimbabwe, ireland and bangladesh, the only long time full member to suffer this indignity. It says a lot of about our lack of effort in the ensuing 30 years since our unbeaten run ended where Matthew Hayden, a legend of the game himself, had to begging the world not to forget the West Indies today. People like Hayden, Ponting, Langer etc grew up idolizing the West Indies. That generation comprises of people who are now in their 50s and are pushing 60. The The millennial generation does not idolize the West Indies and for generation z, the west indies is a formerly great team their grandparents saw. And the WI haven't recognized that. I agree with pooran. maximize your earnings. West Indies cricket is not getting better and it has no interest in improving
