We have tried him most every else but given his propensity for hitting the ball in the air why not let him do so in the powerplay when the field is up. The days of the likes of sluggers like Charles opening are over. They are too easily worked out. No one can question Hetty's talent...just his head. Give him the freedom to go after the bowling early up

Not a bad shout.

No worse than having Jewel Andrew open the batting.

Oh wait…..that was ODI cricket and also Shai unselfishly sacrificing himself to allow another player to bat where they’re most comfortable.

Absolutely not! Windies have 4 openers, Lewis, Charles, Hope and King.
Why would anyone want Hetty to open when he has never opened the batting. Hetty belongs in the middle order.

Hetty was actually an opener for most of his youth career.

He made that 189 that he keeps putting on his shirt as an opening batsman. In his last year at the U19 level he started to bat at #3.

When was that, 10 years ago???
I think he and the team would be better off at 3 - 6.
BTW, what’s up with his nephew???

You dont have to be an opening bat (red ball version) to open. But in modern T20 you have to have the skills to manipulate the field in the first 6 overs. Hetmyer has that, Charles and King do not, especially if a spinner turns up. If Hetty had a secure place in the middle i would not recommend it but he doesnt.

We have enough sloggers coming down the order. We dont needs a Johnson Charles at top who is going try to whack the cover off every 3rd ball, block the others and end up with a strike rate of 120
