England vs West Indies, 3rd T20I

Narper 2025-06-10 16:46:18

The series is already lost and West Indies just have pride to play for in this last T20I of the series. So far this tour has been a rough ride for new white-ball captain Shai Hope as his side is on the verge of not winning a game on tour.

They were blanked 0-3 in the ODIs and now are down 0-2 in the T20Is. Harry Brook as the new white-ball captain has settled in nicely into the role and Jos Buttler seems to be batting as well as he has ever done.

Hello and welcome to the last game of this tour in Southampton. Since this is a dead-rubber expect changes from both sides. Toss and teams are next

England (Playing XI):
Jamie Smith, Ben Duckett, Jos Buttler(w), Harry Brook(c), Jacob Bethell, Tom Banton, Will Jacks, Brydon Carse, Liam Dawson, Adil Rashid, Luke Wood

West Indies (Playing XI):
Evin Lewis, Johnson Charles, Shai Hope(w/c), Sherfane Rutherford, Rovman Powell, Shimron Hetmyer, Romario Shepherd, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Gudakesh Motie, Alzarri Joseph

West Indies have won the toss and have opted to field

Narper 2025-06-10 17:08:06

Shai Hope:
We are going to bowl first. Looks like the pitch won't change too much, we back ourselves in chasing. Biggest thing would be to win the game. We have one change - Hetmyer comes in for Chase. We have to adapt quickly, here in England there are so many different conditions, there is usually a wind blowing across but there isn't any today.

Narper 2025-06-10 17:08:37

Harry Brook:
Happy (to bat first). We were going to bowl first as well. We have been speaking about it a lot in the meetings, nailing teams down and keep winning games, just keep on motoring the way we have done and have a dominant performance. Same team.

ufff! Alzarri greeted with a flat six. He goes for the hard length straightaway and Duckett was waiting for that, he stays on the back foot and smacks the pull in front of square. There was deep backward square in place but he was nowhere close

Motie to Jamie Smith, out Caught by Hetmyer!! Redemption for Hetmyer. His dropped catch in the previous over does not cost West Indies much. This is short but the pace is not there, Smith rocks back and gets the pull right off the toe-end, he was hitting with the wind and that carried the ball as far as the rope but not beyond it,.

Alzarri Joseph to Brook, FOUR, not tidy but effective. Brook moves around before getting inside the line and scooping this back of a length delivery over short fine. He once again loses his balance and goes to ground

5.5
Alzarri Joseph to Brook, 5 wides, no, no, no! This is not something West Indies can afford at this stage - free runs. Alzarri tries to follow Brook again but ends up spraying it way down leg,

Prako 2025-06-10 18:52:14

Alzarri is bowling very foolish today. He is getting angry when batsmen ramp him to the boundary and then tries to bowl wider and it goes to the boundary as well. This guy is not thinking.

17.1
Holder to Jacob Bethell, 1 run, in the air and safe. Slower and short of length, Bethell mistimes the cut and the ball skies up over point, Charles runs back and does not get there. Rutherford, on the other hand, comes in and looks like he pulled his hamstring when he went down to pick up the ball

Charles has a word with him and calls for the physio immediately. He's walking off the field. That did not look good but West Indies will hope it is not serious and Rutherford will be available with the bat. Brandon King is the substitute fielder

Yardman_83 2025-06-10 19:03:26

Adil Rashid to Rutherford, out Caught by Wood!! Straight to deep backward square-leg. Rutherford had an issue with his hamstring while fielding. Maybe this affected him. This is a length delivery on middle, Rutherford ghoes low to swing to leg, another top-edge and it's an easy catch to Wood who doesn't have to move. WI losing their way.

11.3
Brydon Carse to Shai Hope, FOUR, ffour over extra-cover now. Length delivery on middle, Shai Hope backs away and cuts hard and high over extra-cover, was the slower-ball off-cutter too
11.2
Brydon Carse to Shai Hope, FOUR, and again. Shai Hope shuffles across his stumps, then sees the full delivery outside off, reverse-scoops wide of short third man, this time just four
11.1
Brydon Carse to Shai Hope, SIX, audacious. Length on off, Shai Hope pre-meditates the reverse-scoop and gets it all the way over third man, to do that against such pace takes some doing

Narper 2025-06-10 20:20:09

11.5
Brydon Carse to Shai Hope, out Caught by Buttler!! Shai Hope's grunt shows how he was disappointed. This is a length delivery and following him outside the leg-stump, he tries to flick and the thick leading-edge goes straight up. Simple catch for Buttler. Brydon Carse kept it at the body and cramped Hope for room.

Wood to Holder, out Caught by Brydon Carse!! A steepler and gone. Length on middle and leg, Holder swings and it's up in the air, Carse at deep square-leg takes it safely as he got under the high ball. End of a cameo from Holder.

Holder c Brydon Carse b Wood 25(12) [6s-3]

Wood to Motie, out Caught by Will Jacks!! Good catch by Jacks at long-on. Dug in short outside off, Motie flat-bats the pull and doesn't have the power, Jacks gets across to his right and dives forward on the slide to catch it nicely. Judged that so well.

That facting Rovman is a saboteur.

The man has been 'cagey' in his batting all series, but now that the series is lost, he has emerged from his shell.

So who would you say showed up today or for the whole series for that matter? It is a bit rich to be blaming the batters when your bowlers went for 250 in 20 overs, no?
