Yep, Look like they got rid of the Dominicans. No Kavem Hodge either. No Motie.
What has Brandon King done to get a place in this team? Nothing Earth shattering.
I thought Shai Hope was not interested in test cricket.
We also cannot count on runs from Imlach. I

I think DaSilva should have made the team on performance in the last regional series of games. He sure as hell did better than King and Campbell.

It looks like Sammy and the selectors chose along Party lines and applied the DOGE effect.

So they left out McKenzie, the only batsman who handled Australian bowlers last year, while selecting batsmen who failed last year against Australia, including Braithwaite (average 8.0 runs); Greaves 17.0 runs; and Hope who is essentially a failed test player. So, who is the batsman to score runs for West Indies?
Anyway, I did predict that Campbell and King will be opening for WI, not because they wanted Yardies but opening against Australia is a career-ending position, both Braithwaite and Chanderpaul averaged under 8.0 runs during that tour. Many thought that I was just slipping big grinbig grin

The team management and players for Australia test leaving tour early include King......King is all formats multi years contracted player....So King is presumed to be in squad vs Australia.....

I choosing both.

Consider this.

The team currently playing South Africa A team, harbors nine of the selected players for the test squad.
This team was beaten badly in the one day games, lost by an innings in the "first test" and on course to lose the second by at least seven wickets.
If these guys cannot perform against an A team that currently has no representation on the South Africa senior side, I dread to see what is coming up against Australia.

This is by far the weakest team to represent the West Indies.
Hopefully Seales and company will keep them in the game.
Big sigh.

Any Test selection should surely take into consideration performances in the recent four-day competition....

Josh da Silva - 583 runs @ average of 65
Kevlon Anderson - 573 runs @ 72
Jahmar Hamilton - 573 runs @ 57.30
Tevin Imlach - 538 runs @ 67
John Campbell - 517 runs @ 47
Jonathan Drakes - 515 runs @ 47
Mikyle Louis - 429 runs @ 39
Kavem Hodge - 314 runs @ 31
Keacy Carty - 313 runs @ 31
Brandon King - 242 runs @ 30
Alick Athanaze - 231 runs @ 29
Roston Chase - 174 runs @ 58
Shai Hope - 36 runs @ 18

I don't see what Carty, King or Hope have done to deserve selection to the Test side ahead of da Silva, Hamilton or Drakes. It seems Sammy and co are basing their Test selections on performances in ODIs. That's a flawed process, because there's a world of a difference between batting in Test cricket and batting in limited overs cricket.

Disgraceful what has been done to Dasilva. Why would any player want to do well in the local 4 day if your contribution is ignored for journeymen who want the to only play when against fashionable teams.
Besides that, the balance looks all wrong now that Chase is captain.
Cannot justify him replacing Greaves in the team.

Curiously I have not seen a post or heard from VOR on this selection for the Test.

Kavem and Alick are out and guys like King and Hope are in for reasons I do not quite comprehend.

Is it because Sammy is head coach and part of the selection committee?

Those stats are skewed, they deliberately omitted the Australian tour earlier in the year, for obvious reasons that many batsmen, including those currently selected to face Australia demonstrated extremely poor performances and skewed against McKenzie, one of the only batsmen to stand up against the hostile Australian bowlers.
