I don't think he would have lasted long in tests as he currently is. he is not a completed batsman and maybe the lure of quick money put paid to those plans. so having him in tests as he is now would have been a failed experiment. in addition to that, 2014-present has been the most catastrophic era in modern WI cricket. we were battered in the 2015 world cup, battered in the 2019 world cup and it was an old side that won the 2016 edition. that must be demotivating for any young player and then you have billionaires pelting money at you to play for their side
