So much for needing to play FC cricket

In order to be selected to the test team.

Unless by “playing FC cricket” really means show up to play 1 red ball match in 3 years and that demonstrates enough “commitment” to the test team.

I’m glad this policy has now been exposed as the farce it has always been.

If a cricketer can play and perform, they can play any format. Shai Hope and Brandon King can play any format. They’re good enough. Certainly good enough to outperform the incumbents.

I feel for Hodge and Motie though. Nobody coming into the side has outperformed them.

Can say the same about Roach except Roach is at the end of his international playing career.

But if the selectors feel the need to carry Kraigg Brathwaite, because he’s approaching a milestone and he’s playing at home, despite performing worse than Roach……how can they justify not at least picking Roach for one last hurrah at his home ground?

I’m not a massive fan of Kemar Roach but I absolutely acknowledge and appreciate his accomplishments for West Indies. He’s been one of our best.

We SUCK at showing appreciation for our biggest achievers. It’s almost as if we have to humiliate them instead.

WEIRD

King only miss first class cricket during the last few season
because of injuries of ODI selections that coincided with out red ball league.
So any argument against King is mute.

Hope played some first class cricket except
when committed to T20 franchise leagues gor which he had NOC's from CWI,
so any argument there is mute as well.

Hodge form dipped, so blame Hodge for the drop.

Roah drop is understandable, enough said.
There is n need to seek milestones for any player.
CWI refused to fulfill Gayle's request to finish out his test career at home
Si is not Gayle then why Roach?

Braffit lucky to be picked, but I suspect that this is his last hurrah

BTW: I am not justifying anything CWI does, cause I don't understand their thinking.
CWI decisions baffle me.

Mute? King, the only player I have ever hyped in this rum bar, does not deserve to be selected for this squad.

King and Hope did nothing to be anywhere near the test squad!

It's a slap in the face to all regional players.. imagine putting in all that hard work, consistent performances throughout the season and eventually finishing amongst the top performers for the tournament.

Surely, at the end of that you will be telling yourself that I did enough to get a look in... and rightfully so.

Unfortunately that's not how it works in the WI, the untouchables will come along and give that opportunity to a player that did nothing to earn a pick... then turn around and release some bullshit press release to justify the decision. To top it all off, not a soul could question them or do anything about it because they are not answerable to anyone.

Any sane person arguing against King and or Hope,
should be ashamed for not arguing for Dasilva, Hamilton and Mohammed.

Enough said

Well Motie has been out bowled by Warrican..... Dropping of Motie was impending until and unless spin pitch....next India series...Motie will be in squad...

Hodge, well well good , whole hearted player....but Secret Weapon and his Handler wants experienced and all formats players in test team... similar to most test playing nation...

Dropping of Silva , is very disheartening.... you were right...I stand corrected...

Rum Shop lively in the morning. The thread was primarily about King and Hope you even commented on the thread without mentioning DaSilva, Hamilton and Mohammed. I guess you are ashamed of yourself and insane.

Anyway, off the top of my head, Hodge, Mohammed and DaSilva should have definitely been in the squad, they got "Nikita-ad".

In this modern era, we shouldn’t be thinking of playing sports - cricket - for players’ appreciation, dem days done!

You play your best team to win!

Sports is now the art of war and making money!

Well Motie has been out bowled by Warrican

In a single series on pitches where the ball was turning square.

So you effectively drop him from the test team for the foreseeable future based on that???

Allyuh deserve what Allyuh get yes

For the foreseeable future?
I thought that they pick squad series by series.
I wonder where you got info to make such comment.

Mootie's drop from the squad for this series is well deserved.
He and Warrican played on the same wickets in Pakistan.
Plus Warrican bowled over the last 12 months or so.
I was never a big Warrican fan, but facts are facts.
Mootie's bowling has dropped off exponentially.

Sometime it's best not to argue with a fool.
or try to explain sense to an idiot.

Pick de bones out of that.

I'm not calling you an idiot, as I don't know you,
and I realize some people here like to play devil's Advocate.
But based on your response, your analysis of my post is either idiotic or full of skepticism.

Out of 6 multi-years & multi- formats players...Motie is one......others are Seales, Joseph, Shamar,Hope & King..The selection is horses for courses.....pitches, I assume going to be fast ....so Warrican gets the nod.... don't forget...even in South Africa series..Warrican out performed Motie....Motie took 3 wickets @70 against South Africa.....Warrican 8 wickets @20.....stats vs Pakistan...Motie 7 @25....Warrican...19@9.....when Warrican plays in Caribbean takes wickets@33......Motie when he plays at home wickets@82....Motie needs to learn fast..... specially red ball.......For India test, I assume several fast bowlers going to be dropped...spinners gets the nod...

The worst part of this selection....No clarification regarding Silva.... very concerning and disheartening....on one hand Sammy is deemed as best man manager and then this.....

Chase and Warrican were appointed test captain and vice captain for this series only?

Where you got that info from?

Unless they going back to those same tracks they played in Pakistan recently, how likely is it for West Indies to select 3 spinners in their test team?

Where does Motie fit in the foreseeable future?

Maybe This explains it

Or maybe this

Of course there are several of these around YouTube

IMO, Cucaracha should be an extra in the squad and allowed some form of send off.
Like some in the video said, even as 12th man and allowed to field.
But his record against left-handers is unmistakable.
The disrespect for greats continues.

Shiv (Shiv had a lot to do with that)
Lara, no need to qualify.
Gayle, who requested a final test at home.

Not many are saying that Road should play continually, but a farewell home test (respectful)
