Strange CWI response to Pooran’s retirement

CWI has almost gone over the top in its praise of Nicholas Pooran and acknowledgement of his service to the game etc after he announced his retirement from international cricket.

Immediate press release effusive in its praise of Pooran.

Blitz social media with much of the same etc.

All of this is interesting, especially coming from an organization that has historically treated its best performers almost with disdain

So this “love fest” for a player, IN THEIR PRIME, who has essentially turned their backs on you…….is curious to say the least.

Maybe CWI is turning a new leaf with regards to how they treat players and maybe this was the catalyst to do so……but it’s still curious at best. I also don’t trust them.

Interesting take. But based on your slant, how do you explain the treatment of Roach if there is this new dispensation? Could it be more about leaving the door ajar just in case he wants to come back at a later stage? As you said, he is still in his prime and could potentially still be of value in the future...

Has Roach?

If he hasn’t, does that lessen his contribution?

Dwayne Smith was on the 2012 t20 World Cup winning squad

Evin Lewis was on the 2016 t20 World
Cup winning squad

Neither played much if at all in either tournament. Is their contribution to WI cricket greater than Pooran’s simply by being on the squad?
