U.S. Open Golf

Saw a bit of round 1 yesterday and found it palpably boring to watch.

Oakmont is a bear of course and it's deliberately set up to be even more difficult, but I found the play by the big names like Rory and Scheffler pretty insipid and uninspiring.

Hopefully the final round will bring about better play.

Career journeyman J.J. Spaun still leads at -4.

I see Hovland is playing well. I wouldn't mind seeing him win his first major title.

Koepka is a bad man when it comes to majors. And he's just lurking at the moment in the top 10.

Rain delay. But watching the replay of the 2008 Open with Tiger on the 18th for birdie to tie Mediate for a playoff.

He did. Still exciting after all thee years..Miss the Animal on the Golf course as the game has paled since he got
'old and injured'

No one wants to win the Open....and no one under par
Five tied at 1 over, 2 at 2 0ver...Burns who has led most of the way and
Scott ,the only Major winner in the bunch ,seems best placed to take it.
But after the resumption from a 90 minute rain break,it has become a
crap shoot on this extremely difficult Course.

J J Spaun just had bird to take the lead at Even par, Four holes to play. This agony for all.

MacIntyre with the Club house lead at +1. Looks a winner as Spaun is at +1 on the 16th.
+ 1 looks great for the win as everyone except Spaun keeps falling. He has an eagle try at the 17th.
Burns had a 6 on the 16th to fall to plus 3 after he was not given a call for very wet surface and chanked
his 2nd into the high fescue. He was more than angry when the officials denied him a drop on the fairway.

This will be an unforgettable Open.

Well done JJ Spaun,missed the Eagle but Birdies the 17th to take the lead at Even .Needs only a par on the Last to win his
1st Major and 2nd Tour win.
MacIntyre's 68 was round of the day. Pure excellence to come plus eight at the start of day.

Spaun finds the fairway in fine shape. And the drizzle is back too.

Dam Dam ..he sunk it for Birdie to win at -1. The only player to break par.
Pandemonium in the rain with added Tears.That putt some 50 or more feet.
Wow.
The emotion is appropriate as he hugs wife and 2 daughters. Wow.
The cheers can't stop. Everybody is rejoicing ..lol
