So said, Darren Sammy, and this made big headlines in the media. But, what is the revelation in this announcement? Many had warned about that in the beginning, where Sammy was one of the pioneers. At that time, all they cared about was getting their way to make as much money as possible, with no concern about preserving the institution that created them. Those who had the foresight to see what is happening now, and wanted something done, then, to ensure that it does not happen, those folks were insulted and rebuked. They were branded as anti players, massa, among other things. All kinds of false rationale were raised to defend those guys, and they themselves, not very progressive, were only seeing dollar signs. Now, when the inevitable has occurred, the same people pretend that they are surprised of all these betrayals, and the ever diminishing levels of West indies cricket. Those are the fruits of the seeds we've sown.

Sammy is now placed in a position where he is feeling the direct impact of what he created. And, he has overestimated himself as this great leader of men, most of whom were using him at the time to achieve their ends. They have never forgiven him for how he came into, and how he achieved the captaincy of the west Indies. But, they played along, and he misinterpreted that as loyalty, and leadership prowess. Now, the CWI got caught up in the narrative too, so they brought him in, and made him Lord of Rings. They did believe that he had such powers of leadership, and with his magic, he would be the one to woo them back to West indies team. But, his usefulness to the players is no more, and the real powers over Pooran, Elvin Lewis lies in Trinidad. Those were the powers that manipulated Sammy and others into believing that he was so great a leader. And, those guys don't care about West indies cricket, their loyalties are in Mumbai, Chennai etc. Hey doh see West indies at all.

You guys are trying to revise history. Sammy was no pioneer of the era of the mercenaries. Sammy was placed in his position as a result of others who refused to commit to WI cricket. So disingenuous.

Cause of what exactly?

Under Sammy these players have returned to WI cricket after a long hiatus:
Andre Russell
Evin Lewis
Johnson Charles
Jason Holder

Shai Hope and Brandon King playing Test Cricket.

not sure what you are saying here. Sammy wasn't one of the "mercenaries". The mercenaries had talent, and thus were well paid in the IPL. Sammy couldn't be a mercenary.
