Severe storm threat in southern Ontario Wednesday, with heavy downpours, flooding, hail, and tornado risk

Folks across southern Ontario will want to remain weather-aware on Wednesday as scattered thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon and evening/overnight
Slow-moving storms in the afternoon will bring a heightened flooding risk to Kitchener-Waterloo, to the north of the GTA, potentially moving into Toronto
An evening cold front will shift the focus to strong wind gusts as the front marches from west to east, racing sunset and feeding on lingering instability
Potential hazards include heavy downpours, strong winds, localized flooding, loonie-sized hail and a tornado or two in southwestern Ontario
Stay weather-aware Wednesday and monitor for fast-developing alerts Ontario when storms start to pop up

RADAR derived rainfall amounts estimate 50 mm have fallen in the area. Slow moving thunderstorms are expected to continue.
Local rainfall amounts up to 75 mm.
