But not a peep about Motie?
Motie was seen as the leading spinner in the region……in nearly all formats. Certainly in test and ODI cricket.
He was awarded a multi year, multi format contract by CWI
And then now is dropped from the test squad.
Granted Warrican out bowled both Motie and Sinclair in Pakistan on a significantly turning track. But even with that, it’s enough to nyam Motie supper?
Motie may have been going through a bit of a drought with regards to taking wickets, but he’s still a quality bowler.
CWI must have known once they appointed Warrican as test vice captain, that would put an immediate pause, if not complete end, to Motie’s test career.
There has to be more than just form (or lack thereof) in that decision.
Could it be that Motie’s decision to play for Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Global Super League instead of West Indies test series against England in 2024, is being held against him and resulted in WI moving away from Motie as their premier spin option?
