What we need in the Caribbean is more investment and support at the grassroots level, where players can continually hone their craft.
Prior to independence we benefited from the colonial system where more cricket was being played at all levels.

Watched and the one day before was Joe Root, common denominator..Yorkshire . A place of history and tradition in English cricket. They came through that then played for England.
Our players lack pride in regional aspects but island pride is strong.

WI cricket. the odds in their favour. Only 16 teams contest cricket final at most drawn from maybe only 20 who can qualifv.
Football involves nearly 200 countries competing to get there..competition is very stiff., Cricket is pliable and
and so far less than 10 have held the WC trophy.... Uruguay,Brazil,Argentina from this hemisphere and Germany, France Spain,Italy and England
in 1966 has done so.And most of these winners are double holders.
I like the odds but I ain't a gamble anymore
In footie, in essense you are training 11 people to think on same page simultaneously in harmony for 90 minutes.
In cricket this is not needed. one or two can perform with little,minimal or no support from the other mates.
It is not golf where an individual is actually playing against himself and not his opponent.
It is however the greatest game as it is irrelevant how another does. It's you alone that determines the result.
The elements of track and field falls in this too except for relays of course. You alone determines who his the tape first
and no argument,speculation, what ifs etc.
