Small Market Teams

May there be more of these matchups in the NBA finals. Was certainly competitive this year. Congrats to OKC. Best record in the league. Deserved champions. Indiana gave them a good fight.

Please! I remember when there were 4 and 5 game finals, even 6 games routinely.

I recall how the NBA used to hold the 5th game on a Sunday to take advantage of that window. However, doing so meant if the series went to 7 games, then that game would fall on a weekday.

Now its scheduled so that the 7th game is always on a sunday, lo and behold.....every series since 2018, i think has gone 7!

How fortunate for them!

This was the 1st Game 7 since 2016 when the Cavaliers beat the Warriors.

Congrats to the thunder for their first championship in their history.the nba really did not market this series well i believe that is why partly the tv ratings was down .they would have prefered it to be played by two higher market teams that play in "sexy " locations like los angeles miami ,boston ,new york .that have higher media markets

Or they realize that market or not certain teams and cities just will not make a difference.

In LA , you have lots of people who follow and many ....alot more, who dont follow the NBA.

Thus marketing in such a place will draw a few more eyeballs who are otherwise busy to keep up.

In OKC or Indiana, that may not be nesesary as the fervor in these small cities will do the job.

So why waste resources?

Those who find this difficult to understand, are just not aware or choose to ignore the fact that the NBA is a regional league.
