If this is the case, the least they could have done is give the man a farewell match in front of his home crowd!

These jokers at CWI ain't easy...

The CWI has too many times have insensitive and unsophisticated people at the top of the Board, Roach deserves better treatment, he was always available to represent WI

that a dude who never came close to west indies selectin is in charge of cricket operations in the region is totally absurd. but as i said, it goes beyond cricket. the caribbean, and most of the world today is unfortunately quite satisfied with mediocrity.

He was always available to represent WI largely because for the most part, he didn’t have very many other options open to him in franchise cricket.

As I remember it, he did receive an offer from a franchise and the then WICB refused to give him a NOC. In so doing, they made sure to take care of him financially and otherwise. That was at a time when “taking care” of players not named Darren Sammy wasn’t done by the Board.

That said……I do agree that the Board and selectors could have given him a farewell test at his home ground in this series.

I also agree with the decision NOT to include him in their future plans as a player.

Nothing wrong with them moving on.. its the right move.

But this was definitely an opportunity to give the man one last match in front of his home crowd.

Plus he is most likely the last WI bowler to pass 250+ test wickets.

That is now a luxury teams may not be able to afford, with the championship format.

Please expand on this.

What does the championship format do to make this difficult?

nuh sorta respect for players at all. and then we wonder why players would rather represent other countries or retire from West Indies cricket early.

Why...Roach is the most intelligent bowler we have and he is still capable. Roach is solid at home with the dukes ball.

Miles Bascomb is another dumbass that needs to be fired.

Dwl. So this is not about the World Test Championship 2025 - 2027? Bascombe referenced planning for the "World Test Championship 2027 on to 2029". So, given that the 2025 - 2027 World Test Championship is obviously not the focus, how would giving Roach, a stalwart of WI cricket, the opportunity to play his last match at home at the Kensington Oval be of any jeopardy? One match would so greatly affect plans for 2027 - 2029? It is not even like Roach would be dead weight on the team. He would actually have been a great asset playing in that first test on a pitch he has always done well. In the seven matches he has played at Kensington, Roach has taken 32 wickets at an average of 18.56 and a strike rate of 39.9. That is world class!! It is very poor to just discard him like that. To put this into context, this compares with the great Malcolm Marshall who played 8 test matches at Kensington Oval taking a total of 49 wickets at an average of 18.59 and a strike rate of 36.9. Better at Kensington than Ambrose, Walsh, Joel Garner etc. It would have made sense picking him for that first test against Australia.

Also, does this then mean that Sammy was just given the coaching job without an interview for the next four years? The focus is on the 2027 - 2029 cycle and not the current cycle? So does that also mean that Chase and Warrican was seriously selected as captain and vice captain for the next four years and wasn't an emergency stop gap for this 2025 - 2027 cycle? What the hell is going on in WI cricket? These people just doing what they feel like with inconsistent explanations as it suits them.

In total agreement...why is it we always prefer youth over experience and then subsequently discover they force ripe...not only that they choose to do so against one of the top teams ....look how long England held on to Broad and Anderson who both was older than Roach before they were discarded even though England have much more youthful talent in their ranks than Windies....whilst not comparing Roach with those 2 greats he's our most experienced an deserved to at least be in the squad against Oz an probably for another year or so!

Lol but its not like WI will be winning anything. So the championship should be irrelevant to them.

We continue to treat out good players like crap.. and then be all surprised when they prioritize other leagues ahead of us.

Hopefully more youngsters follow in the footsteps of Pooran and others.. make your money.
