and should be far away from test cricket
that said i hope he proves me wrong
WI need bowlers
we dont have good enough bowlers to play aggressive cricket
back in the day when WI used to score at 3-4 or 5 an over in test cricket we could defend occasional low scores
today we dont have effective batsmen and we are plagued with diabetes inducing bowlers

Brandon King aka Bing cannot bat
In reply to sudden
Save for those two minor things, we would be winning everything!!

Anyways, wha King doing there fer real??? esp with so many amazing batsmen waiting in the wings. Such as errr... arrmmm
Lemme compile a list and I'll edit this comment!!!
#delusional
In reply to VIX
You are a funny chap. On a serious note, you can really just put names in a hat and play whichever ones come up. I have no expectations other than hoping we can get at least four days of cricket.
In reply to VIX
You forgot atrocious fielding
And I would replace Bing with Jangoo or Imlach
In reply to sudden
West Indies has many better batsmen than King, who cannot wait to score centuries against Australian bowlers. When the reality is that last year much better WI batsmen could not buy a run against Australia and the batsmen who scored against Australia were not selected
In reply to sudden
I thought King played a solid test batsman knock under trying conditions so far, what seh yuh?
In reply to Slipfeeler
These insular ones care not of that, just their's.
In reply to Raggs
He did.
He plays a couple of good drives off off Mitch.
In reply to sudden
I have no doubt that you are familiar with the story of the last time , Barbadians were critical of a young Jamaican batsman making his Test debut at Kensington in Bridgetown. The youngman went on to carve out an inning of 176 . After which the refrain was "he is Headley from so and so ..in Barbados".
Hopefully you are proven wrong again.
In reply to alfa1975
You are an ass.
I am supporting the 11 chosen by Scammy, as we should.
I do not think Scammy should be coach, but he is.
king was performing credibly in our red ball league, until he was taken away by CWI idiots,
who scheduled white balls tours at the same time as the red ball league.
I am supporting Scammy and his logic, at least for now.
My jury is out until the end of this year.
I am giving Scammy time to prove that he has a plan.
I want Chase, king and my Great Hope to score centuries tomorrow.
In reply to TanteMerle Touchy.... My jibe was at Sudden and nothing to do with Sammy. Sensitiviy again rears its ugly head.
Bat on Brandon.
Dat is all
In reply to sudden
King is a very decent batter. His batting has not escalated due to his T20 obligations. Cross-batting and untimed swinging has crept into his batting. no doubt due to
T20.
There are not 5 better batter in the region than Brandon King (a very poor man's Kane Williamson)
In reply to JoeGrine
No need to insult Kane Williamson by mentioning him in the same sentence as king.
In reply to alfa1975
Really?
It read like a jibe at Bajans, as per usual.
I am Bajan and I reserve the right to defend Bajans from unjust criticism.
I do not care one bit about Scammy.
As a Bajan, I am supporting the 11 selected.
Like everyone else, I have my 11 and it was different.
Actually my squad was different to begin with.
I believe that Mohammed deserved a call-up.
King was deprived of test selection years ago and now finally has it.
I am hoping that he makes the best of it.
I have stated here before about his batting technique, which has deteriorated due to white ball games.
I am hopeful that he tightens up and bats on here.
In reply to brians_da_best
Allow me to say this without apology. No one, and I mean no single individual on here, has more appreciation for Kane Williamson (the world's best batter) that I do.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it while you try to understand the reference I was making.
In reply to JoeGrine
King is a poor man’s herchelle gibbs . That’s as far as I would go.
And near in mind Gibbs was infinitely better than king
In reply to sudden
You saw that Offstump getting hit eversince too ent??
Brandon is better than this...but he makes some brain farty decisions more often than not in recent times.
I too was hoping he would ton up just to put the lie to your post... but alas.
Poor mans Kane Williamson bowled leaving the ball.
Some serious nonsense people post here
Poor mans carl hooper
In reply to velo
That would be Hope!

All this talk about King can’t bat yet kraigg Brathwaite continues on his merry way to 100 tests without so much as a peep of criticism
If Kraigg Brathwaite could play 100 test matches for WI as a specialist batter, so too can Courtney Walsh play as a specialist batter (apologies to Courtney for the comparison)
In reply to imusic
Walsh retired
So you want to put the stats up for King vs Braff in Tests? lolol
In reply to powen001
In 1 innings, King has come within 5 points of Mr 100 test Brathwaite’s average.
Kraigg Brathwaite never could, cannot, and will never be able to bat
In reply to imusic
HA HA HA HA HA ...thats the only stat stat lie that could be used.
and King still gets beaten.
We all want King to grab that potential....he is much better than he has been showing...and guess where his biggest weakness IS that happens to be Braffs Strength;
CONCENTRATION
In reply to imusic
And the way his opening partners have been performing make him difficult to get dropped
In reply to InHindsight
Its true..
I suspect the very reason KING is here is to be groomed into securing a TOP spot...
Walking wicket man has not improved in my opinion...King has to take that spot from him...and KB quite frankly...needs to have someone challenge him too...but tht aint been happening.
Remember C H GAYLE was a lock in...
I cannot think of us having that solid top since Haynes and Greenidge.
Perspective- It has been six years since Tony Becca died and at least 3 that fans like Dukes et al suggested King be groomed for test cricket. Becca suggested that yrs before he died. CWI are jackasses! As poor as our FC competition is once you see a young batter score 150 plus innings they should be put in an academy and groomed for test. Instead at least two Allen and King were fast-tracked into International white ball cricket. Being in an academy would've also revealed his fielding weakness. Bravo came through the ranks to test cricket without being able to field and had to go through improvement drills when already a senior test player.
What is curious, up to the point he got out King's lil twent-sinting was the top score but not much of a peep about the three before especially the vastly more experienced one who put the newbie 3 and 4 under extreme pressure. Aaaah Sah
In reply to InHindsight
Problem with that is, for over a year, Brathwaite’s partners, as poor as they have been, have still outperformed Brathwaite.
In reply to Brerzerk
Am curious. Where exactly would you have liked to see King bat ?
In reply to NYCGURU
I really don't matter where he bats, not even think he should be in the team based on current form and domestic 4day performance.
Interestingly Inglis in his 2nd test is bowled leaving to Seales 18 tests and not a peep. Whereas King on debut gets out similarly to Hazelwood 73 tests
280wkts and there's an uproar
In reply to Brerzerk
In the case of Inglis, there are no small-minded (small islander) chomping at the bit for failures so they can push their players.
Just the same, King should not be in the team, he did not earn a spot. Hodges, J. Mohammed and DaSalvia are all ahead of him.
In reply to sudden
King will make you eat your words in the second innings.
Windies winning this.
In reply to Casper
To be honest that was an almost a unplayable delivery that dismissed him
In reply to sudden
Are you kidding, , King did not play a stroke.
In reply to tc1
Don't know what he saw.
In reply to sudden
There was nothing unplayable about that delivery. The man suffered a brain freeze to a delivery that started a little outside off and came back a little.
In reply to sudden
It was unplayable, that’s why he didn’t bother playing a shot
he should have been out before that delivery he was dropped driving loosely at a very wide ball that was dropped by the slip and the wk failed to catch on the rebound,i'm not sire about king as test player he plays to loose for me even in one day cricket but we will see. but seems nobody is talking about carty who is averaging 18 by now after a dozen test matches
In reply to velo
Carty is technically sound, averages 50 in ODIs. Let that sink in. He is one of the very few players currently averaging 50 in ODIs. Hope is another one.
Obviously if he continues to fail in tests, he’ll get dropped like Hope was, but on paper he looks solid. Let’s see how this series pans out for him
I saw it live.
In reply to brians_da_best
This Kid Carty looks like a solid player, I remembered saying to you in the past that he was not test ready, but after seeing him live I like him.
another unplayable delivery
In reply to tc1
Let’s hope he and hope can bring this home
In reply to brians_da_best
Uphill climb here. These guys need to have some form of partnership.
In reply to alfa1975
Why are people so critical of the young man after a single test match
