If you want to be a successful keeper you have to be more positive and demonstrative. You opened the door for the tiefing third ump to turn a blind eye

Look a man who regularly plays red ball cricket just took a catch at first slip.

These white ball cricketers should only field in the outfield cool

Obvious why Hope was not sure. But especially when you playing against Oz just claim it even if you're not sure. No reward for being decent

Exactly ....Windies very timid an amateurish when appealing....if was the other way round Oz would have got the decision so would England and India.....no consequences for umpires making bad decisions against Windies...unlike the aforementioned!!

Both boy scouts, Ian Bishop and Carlos Brathwaite, say the catch was clean

I am a West Indian fan but from that angle the ball bounced on the ground first. Let's move forward!

Why are we blaming Hope for being honest? If you don't know you don't know. Had he claimed it and instead of the ump not being 100% sure we ended up seeing it dropped short of the gloves the world would've seen Hope as a THIEF!.
He said I'm not sure....right thing to do.

I saw the bounce INTO the glove on the same finger…and that was based on the NEXT Frame clearly showing the ball 100% in the glove.

So perhaps my screen working like the other comms who also thought he was out as well.

No conclusive evidence it grossed before reaching the gloves, none (conclusive) it did not either. Batsman gets benefit of the doubt. I think it went in but that's irrelevant, ump made correct decision

If it was so clear why did the 3rd umpire take so long to make a decision after multiple slow-mos??.....i will watch again but to my mind the keeper had his fingers under the ball but i stand to be corrected....anyhow luckily it wasn't costly!

Watched enough cricket in recent years to understand most commies say fingers clearly under the ball, from 2D.

Hope missed the catch because he was going backwards expecting the ball to bounce before him. if he had stood his ground he would have caught it.

Because it is his job to clearly see a dismissal or give the benefit to the batsman.

that is the cricket rule.

So he must/should take his time.

You sound like someone who has never played cricket.

The most dangerous ball for a fielder/keeper is one that bounces in front of him.

I used to wicketkeep.
I got hit under my right eye with a ball that bounce short of the gloves.
Many fielders/keepers/ get hit in the face where balls dropped short of them.
The defensive thing to do it turn your face or wear a helmet while keeping.
Hope turned his face away to save being struck in the face if the ball fell dangerously short.

forward to 18 to 20 minutes

Hope turned his head defensively, as I stated before.

The replay that the 3rd umpire saw,
showed the ball bounce in front of the gloves on the grass and then into the gloves.
I say fair decision.

I am for the Windies and want Windies to win this series 2-0, with a draw.
I expect rain at some time in the series.
