It was like " Oh no Coco ", She got bounced in the first round after just winning a big tournament only a few weeks ago. She dropped her intensity.

Shouldn't be too hard to raise 12.6m but alas!
With Gold Cup on an already tuned out US public and media don't care. T&F for 90% of them is only Olympics and WC chest pounding...if they are winning

More on that story

IMHO Michael Johnson tried to run before he could walk. He claimed he couldn't "save" track AND field, but that he would "save" track. That's a bit arrogant of him to say so, even though I liked his idea of Grand Slam Track.

His prize money was too high. You need to make sure your sponsors cover your prize money.

The price of tickets were way too high, especially in Miami, where only three men and a dog turned up. At the Diamond League events in Paris and London, which are far more well-established, the ticket prices were much lower than they were in Miami, and both Paris and London were sold out.

I don't know who was advising Johnson, but they did a poor job....

Yes. He started too big too fast. product must be built and gain spectator
acceptance even in the USA as T&F is still low on spectator support
and poor cousin to the Big 4.. NFL football,Basketball,Baseball and now soccer.
As you say it was crucial to have sponsors cover costs for payments.
Commendable attempt to boost athletes and the sport. The wish is that
this effort will retool, recover and make its mark.

Gotta crawl before you walk or even...run.
