I think JHO n Rutherford refused test selection. Don't know if that's what Sammy's " More will retire" missive was about.

Both belong in a WI best 11 if u ask me, but...Chase is the anointed one so...I always wondered why WI never experimented with Holder as opener given the paucity of options ever since he's been a player

I cannot understand why they would turn it down. Australia at home is a massive series and both would (definitely should) walk straight into the team. Holder hardly needs money from MLC. I can understand why guys playing the less lucrative franchises turn down tests but guys like holder pooran Rutherford surely could play in tests alongside the ipl and one or two other big leagues.
