Yall still think its the same?

Not because someone is doing good in ODI it means they will be successful in test cricket.

Carty is yet to perform at the FC level... if he can't perform in our shyte FC tournament yuh think he will miraculously score runs at the test level?

Same for Hope... anything quick and short to Hope in test cricket and he's a walking wicket.

People need to ease up with the call for Rutherford too.. if these fellas wanna play test cricket let them go and score runs in the FC tournament and earn a spot!

The red ball moves a bit more than the white. So you need to play a lot against it. Most top 4 team players, yes they play ODI, but also a lot of 4 days as well, the difference.

That's key point..Need solid foundation and that only comes with playing far more matches at FC level
and higher standards to boot.

Exactly...it's a world of a difference batting in ODIs vs batting in Tests.

Here's our batting averages for the Test series so far:

King 29
Shamar 26 - yes, Shamar!
Chase 24
Hope 22
Alzarri 21
Campbell 17
Greaves 15
Carty 14
Kraigg 4

Pathetic!

The man who will be mentioned among the greats, the model of mediocrity averages 4 in a home Test series.

The man who according to some must continue to play because there isn't anyone to replace him...

World class numbers that.

To be fair I didn't expect much from Hope and Chase. Saw enough in their previous stint to know that they aren't test material.

Greaves will eventually find his way out of the squad.. he's nowhere close to Holder as an all-rounder.

Carty is not a test player at the moment.. his FC numbers could tell you that. Yet some feel that his ODI performances will somehow transfer to test cricket. Let the guy play FC cricket and show that he could score runs consistently!

How has playing more red ball cricket in our domestic competitions helped our batters?

Kraigg Brathwaite plays the most red ball cricket of everyone. How is that helping him to perform in the international arena?

Outside of Kraigg, is there currently a player that plays a lot of red ball cricket domestically that even averages 30 in international cricket?

Hodge?
Athanaze?
DaSilva?

Before them….
Brooks?
Raymon Reifer (what a forkane joke)
Bonner?
McKenzie?

The list goes on and on

You all confidently state playing more red ball cricket domestically is required for a “solid foundation”….”to earn a spot”.

Based on what exactly?

Nah, don't hang that on Sammy.

Sammy is trying to play white ball batsmen with decent international records as opposed to red ball batters coming out of our shambolic fc system.

I get where he's coming from. Unfortunately he started against the best bowling attack in test cricket.

And WI not catching Zimbabwe soon enough...

This lays bare the dilemma those who would love to see WI cricket rise again face. A rotted structure, producing deficient players who are exposed as not of international standards. Yet WI rigidly maintain the status quo. Perplexing!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU THANK YOU. No fielding restrictions in test cricket either so a man can bowl six short ball at you once two don't go over your head, which are ironically the easier to play. the balls at the chest, torso and armpit are much, much more difficult and you can still bowl six of those deliveries
