We do not have one batsman with a 40 or above average.
I was speaking with two lil boys on Friday in a shop. One had just come to Kingston from St Bess to spend time with his cousin. Cus would spend August with him.
Both love and live football. Lil St Bess says he hates cricket.
Don’t blame the kids.

Kids don't have cricket heros like we used to have...and the losses don't help

Agreed, but even with cricket heroes the marketing of football is huge.

True...but what can CWI market? Back in the day, West Indies was so good, no marketing needed. Now, you have an organization (CWI) that don't have a clue about advertising.

Too many changes were made to the batting lineup. It is already by nature weak and to top it up with meaningless changes is certainly a recipe for failure

Young people in WI have a better chance of making money from cricket than football

They just like the popular attraction without actually looking into it

A parent in the WI if they want a child to be successful in a sport should concentrate on cricket

V little competition for the reward if they are successful

CWI needs to get this message and spread it wide, we are losing our athletes to this foolish football dream that does not make sense in our part of the world

If Viv grew up in this time, he'd never be a cricketer, can you imagine?

Our bowling is world class but the batsmen are the most unintelligent humans on the planet

Cricket does not have the incentives that other sports do.
Even T20 that provides a means of better revenue, is not easily attained.

You do know dat Viv played both sports. He may have even played a CONCACAF World Cup Qualifier for Antigua. His brother Mervyn, who some believe to have been a better batsman chose football. Dat guy was a magician on a football field

Has the bowling really improved? The two matches so far have been on difficult batting wickets. And by the way, how much practice have our new look white ball batsmen had on 3 and 4 day old wickets? They kept playing back to length deliveroes on a pitch with balls keeping low

agreed. That is why we beat England in Grenada. The wicket was tricky. Same in Multan. That is the only kind of wicket we have a chance on with our batting.
