Yeah. lara is an extremely down to earth person. as i said, geniuses are never easy to play with. even when they are benign like david gower. but I have never seen or heard of lara in public demanding anything because he's a celebrity or anything like that

why would a batsman who has achieved almost everything in cricket need the pity of a rookie?

Not as significant because 365 broke the then highest test score, 364.

So a captain takes the decision without consulting his coach and the team management...give the saffies teams recent past. May be it had to do with race.. how cowardice get into it ..this declaration defies logic...I remember Mark Taylor declaring but that was for Bradman ..this mulder declaration. I have serious doubts on the reason behind it .

Someone named Hilroy George said this on Lara’s FB page. As much as I would’ve hate to see the record go, I tend to agree.

I’m a Brian Lara’s fan, and while i respect Mulder’s rationale for not going after the record, I think his action really diminishes the VALUE of the record. Yes, Mulder could have been dismissed before reaching 401, but his decision to not go for it, makes Lara’s record looks like a gifted statistic and not one that exists because of competitive cricket.[/stats]
