KINGSTON, Jamaica – The countdown is on, and the energy is building as Cricket West Indies (CWI) officially confirms that all systems are go for the historic day/night Test match between the West Indies and Australia at Sabina Park, starting this Saturday, July 12.

Both teams have now had a taste of the unique twilight conditions, completing high-intensity training sessions under lights on Wednesday (Australia) and Thursday (West Indies). The response? Overwhelmingly positive.

West Indies Head Coach Daren Sammy gave the lights and the atmosphere a glowing review:

“The lights look really good. Our batters and bowlers went through their paces and had no complaints. There’s a real buzz in the camp—everyone’s excited to play in this environment, especially at such a historic and beautiful venue.”

“I encourage the Jamaican public to come out in their numbers for this historic occasion — let’s fill the stands and show our support. And remember, children under 16 are free, so bring the whole family and be part of this proud moment in our cricketing history."

Wow, week-end schedule, day - nighters, under age 16 free.

Looking at capacity crowd(s) at Sabina Park.

Let's go $ammy!

The crowd might just decide to do a rendition of that favorite Jamaican song.

Well b4 the first test in Barbados Coach Daren Sammy told us to expect exciting cricket with his new squad. Well 2 games gone and we are 0/2 with series already lost and the exciting team of Sammy in four innings, highest score is 253and three inning below 200 and on the field they have dropped over 10 catches. I guess they were affected by the day light games and hopefully they will play the real exciting cricket in the day/ night game under the beautiful lights

Our former coach and Jamaican Andre Coley must be shaking his head in disbelief to see how the run your mouth coach, Darren Sammy, has done to the WI team that was starting to bring back pride and joy to the hearts of West Indians, by defeating these Aussies in Australia to draw the series 1-1 and then almost a year later did the same to Pakistan in Pakistan under coach Andre Coley. Coach Sammy is a disgrace to West Indians with his big mouth, as if the game is played with the mouth instead of on the field.

Australia has only lost one day/night test out of the 12 they’ve played and it was Coach Andre Coley’s wi team of 2024 that beat them! While Shamar Joseph was the best bowler for us our most consistent batsman was a 23 year old Jamaican by the name of
Kirk McKenzie , with scores of 50 &26 in the 1st test and 21 & 41 in the 2nd. Where is McKenzie today? He’s been dumped by West Indies and coach / selector Darren Sammy failed to realize that he should be brought back against these Australians since he was able to attack them on their faster and bouncier wickets. Sammy whether is day light or day / night cricket we expect the same old result from your team that can’t catch and can’t apply themselves in the wicket. No wonder only King has scored a 50
