Mildly surprised at the condition of the Park. Obviously some good work was put in
to make it quite presentable. And the pitch looks fine for a Test Match...so far. Looks
like it will quicken up tomorrow too.

A lot of under 17 ,boys and girls in the City especially should have been bussed
in free to fill Headley Stand, with parents/guardians at half or quarter price.
The game is dead on the Rock.sad

Yous can blame Shallow for a lot of our ills but not for an empty Sabina....cricket interest been dying there for years. Cameron and Wavell did more to help bury it than Shallow

And long before them Rousseau (or whoever was in charge when we shut the door on professional cricket in SA with the Desmond Haynes ruling) had an even bigger hand

Jamaicans, starting with the Politicians and educators. Cricket has deterioated to non existent in Elementary
Schools and in traditional high schools too. It was always part of the curriculum and activity throughout the
Island.
Back then, sports was not a ministerial office. Now we do and have had for decades now. It is the responsibility
of govt to see that sports including cricket is in some fashion part of the life of youngsters.
I ain't asking. It should be a given.
Restoration from the tender ages is NEEDED and must be be effected.
So I blame from Top to bottom.
Once cricket was king. Now it is a poor cousin to Soccer, football and netball, soon to be at the tail of Basketball, gymnastics
and even american football.

And do you know what ??? More money is spent on cricket at Sabina Park facilities over the years- one venue- than
that spent on other activities. Lights, scoreboard and all plus a rebuilt venue ( 25-30 Million US) in 2007. Less than 20
years ago.
Why ?

The previous Board President is a fellow alumni of Mico. Can''t think
of any substantial things he has done for the progress of the local game.
Less schools played cricket than anytime during his administration which
lasted several terms.
