They got beat in a one off Test match in the WTC finals.

This Aussie team may be a lot of things but they ain't mediocre by any standards.

You're delusional if you think they are.

i mean mediocre by the standards set by australia since they overthrew the WI 30 years ago. If we had a decent batting lineup, Australia would have been whitewashed. in past series, specifically those after 1999, WI were never in the series, in a position to win. australia set us three middling scores and we never got close. its not like in past times when australia was setting us 350-500 runs to win the game

Dude. Just stop it.

If this and if that. Fact is, this Aussie team is number 2 in the world for a reason and were always going to win this series even with Lara and Shiv in the batting line up.

Just because our coaching staff and batsmen are pure shyte doesn't take away from the fact the opponent is world class.

dais relative....only one person in this side averages over 50 and he's old, whereas past aussie sides had at least three(waugh, hayden and ponting), and a few pushing 50(michael clarke) and gritty players averaging over 40 as well(justin langer). even after that had decent batting to back up johnson and harris(warner, rogers, clarke, smith, haddin). most of this aussie side averages under 35. and the ones that still average just over 40 like head and usman are declining and declining fast

I don't give a rats ass about past sides.

This side is number 2 in the world for a reason.

as i said...that's relative. i am comparing this team to the past sides that came to the west indies since 1995 and were not able to pull off a whitewash in a test series of 3 or more tests. and they were all much, MUCH stronger sides than this team

What's relative is your comparison to past sides you moron.

What is objective is that this Aussie team is number 2 in the world - that is a fact.

that is why i mentioned what cummins' side has been able to do, the past great aussie sides have not. The parameters of this analysis were always limited to Australian cricket teams.

they have a strike bowler who averages 27......at one point he averaged 36. He averages 33 against subcontinental batsmen in Australia, conditions that are supposed to suit him. Mitchell Starc, of all the pure quick bowlers who have taken 400 or more wickets, has the highest average along with stuart broad and unlike broad, there are very few starc spells that stand out.Of the pure pace/fast medium bowlers who've taken 350 or more wickets, only ntini, vaas and broad average more. Cummins is a great bowler, i would readily admit that. And since the parameters of this analysis were limited to Aussie sides, yes the damn team mediuocre as hell. the batsmen don't know their off stump from their elbow and that is why their batting crumbled like a bunch of schoolboys at lords. and at least a school team have the excuse of not being professionals. imagine comparing khawaja to hayden or konstas to langer, or warner, or rogers. or comparing starc to glenn mcgrath or even mitchell johnson. you play who's in front of you but doh expect me to rate you if the teams you're rolling over have no batsman who averages over 30. the number 3 averages 34......absurd
