CWI embodies a people's philosophical stagnation

I have repeatedly on this site advocated for the disbanding of West Indies cricket as a concept. It is an endeavor whose time has come and gone. The natural evolution of the beautiful game must be shepherded from different geographical bases. The talent is abundant but the system is archaic and regressive. Guyana has made strides as a cricketing nation. So has Barbados and others who can hold their own against most of the 90 odd emerging and associate members. Most importantly, the concentrated national pride and focus of the individual nation states would not be crippled by the bureaucratic dunce show that is referred to as CWI. Yet the people hope.

Not even Darren Sammy in his wildest dreams could conjure this malaise he is a party to. Blissfully ignorant. Darren Sammy is our Head coach. Darren Sammy is chief selector.....yes Darren Sammy. Floyd Reifer is our batting coach. Floyd Reifer. These men were strategically placed in these positions. Results be damned. The interests of a few continue to be served through a preservation of this disgraceful edifice which must be torn down. Our true warriors have come and gone. The natural order is for the developing nations to grow with new resources, vibrancy and nationalistic pride they all have otherwise. This spectacle that is CWI is more destructive to the Caribbean peoples' psychological well being than anything else in regional sports. Its time for the dead to bury the dead.

well cricket imitates life in the Caribbean. that is a well established concept. We are still at the embryonic stage of political and economic development where appointments are based more on loyalty than competence. but..but....the only region that has not devolved to that model of development is non-english speaking Western Europe, so we are not exactly alone
