I asked my AI fren-
Under that system, batting points often scale too quickly with strike rate, while excellent bowling gets under-rewarded, especially when conceding some runs.

A solid tweak that keeps your system simple:

Wickets = 20 points

Add Bowling Bonus:

2 wickets = +5

3 wickets = +15

4 wickets = +25

5 wickets = +50

Slightly nerf batting SR bonus:

Runs × (1 + (SR - 100)/200) for SR ≥ 100

This:

Rewards wicket-takers more proportionally

Still makes rapid knocks impactful, but not absurdly so

Adds nuance without overcomplicating your current system

The data did not lie.

In the old scoring system All rounders were Gods and all you needed to do was bag a wicket or 2 and slog for 15 runs.

The new scoring system was not always the scoring system so it is not factual to say the scoring system was always flawed.

I will change the formula for runs.

I remember when allrounders were gods, but sometimes picking allrounders bit you in the ass on good batting tracks where the openers and other top order batsmen dominated. So I only picked allrounders who batted in the top 4 or 5.

But I don't remember ever claiming that your T20 scoring system is flawed. It is what it is and the participants just have to pick their teams based on perceived "bias or imbalances" in the scoring system.

What are the changes that you have in mind for the runs formula?

Volatile index man complained the scoring system had flaws for years now.

I did make adjustments over time. I took out points for 4s and 6s. I gave economical bowlers more points.

But to answer the question I will likely depress batting. Take VIX advice and look at old leagues. It will be easy as I create a new database for every league I ran.

I can make a run less than a point. I can increase the SR equation.

But at the end of the day there still will be times when batsmen or bowlers are just better in a series.

Maybe increase points for wickets and increase the points for economy rate for bowling.

A bowler with figures of 4 overs 0-33, scores 0 pts.

1 pt for run is fine, using a SR of 120 rather than a 100 would decrease pts batters score. That is fine.

Regardless of what is done, batters and all-rounders would have the edge over specialist bowlers in t20s.

Ideally the best fix would be to put criteria on the number of batters, all-rounders, bowlers. But as we discussed in the past that won't work because lots of posters would submit invalid teams as they wont follow this.

Cricinfo does have a breakdown of the squads in categories of batters, bowlers and all-rounders.
