I'm wondering why I am responding to you, but here are facts:



"For years, while in Opposition, I repeatedly called for a State of Emergency, not as cheap political gimmickry to appease the population leading up to an election, but as a critical measure to attack the crime situation within the parameters of the law," Persad-Bissessar said in a written statement.She had dismissed Keith Rowley’s December 2024 SoE as “shameless political gimmickry” and condemned his decision to let acting Attorney General at the time, Stuart Young, front the announcement.

They asked why the SOE came after almost 9 years of PNM government inability to control crime and an election in proximity...approximately 5,000 were killed.



In the PNM manifesto of 2015, Rowley noted he had the solutions to control crime if he won the election.... We know what happened in 9 years.
So he had control as 5,000 citizens were killed...amazing logic. He was a fcking dunce.



Attorney General John Jeremie led the update, revealing the SoE had been signed shortly after midnight following intelligence reports from the Police Commissioner about what he described as “a syndicate of gangs” plotting to destabilise the country.

“This is not two or three persons,” Jeremie said. “We were left with no choice…faced with credible information that persons involved in the administration of justice were to be assassinated…we make no apologies for that.”“The previous one by the PNM was prompted by nothing,” he said. “This one is based on intelligence of a coordinated threat. I don’t want to politicize it."“What happened in 1990 will not happen on our watch.”

Intelligence reports that criminals in the prison system were about to target citizens in key positions in T&T.
Such was a known fact to your past PNM government under useless Hinds. Rowley and Hinds did nothing.

Early in this government mandate, they decide this was the best way to handle the situation.
