After all is said, not done Vaneisa Baksh

Despite the rage roaring about in the air, CWI stands firmly in support of itself, assuring the public that it is taking remedial action.Well, the first visible step tells us very plainly that it does not have a clue what to do Shallow has called on legends like Clive Lloyd, Viv Richards and Brian Lara to join its Cricket Strategy and Officiating Committee (chaired by Enoch Lewis) alongside its existing members, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Desmond Haynes and Ian Bradshaw to find a fix.

Under the circumstances, it is tantamount to the Board throwing its hands up in the air and appealing like children to their parents to help them out because they don’t know what to do. If this isn’t a declaration that they consider themselves unfit for purpose, then what is it?Like every other citizen of this West Indies cricket nation, they must be hurt and humiliated by the abysmal extent of that unforgettable 27.

But here you are, inviting them in an admission that you are incapable, yet guffing up your chests to say you see no reason to step aside. It comes down to acknowledging that the entire governance structure is a failed one, but has survived because its inhabitants are masters of the art of self-preservation.While public rage is visceral and vicious, I feel sorry for the players themselves. What must they be feeling? What will be the impact on their careers? Those who played in that final Test will be forever marked, but the reality is that the quality of the batting was no different in the previous matches.

The members of the proposed committee certainly have value to add. But you are dragging them into a situation that has played itself out over and over in the past. At one time or another, the three latest invitees have given their service and counsel to administrators. What is the objective here? Have them invest their time, energy and their experience to a cause that will then be ignored?

So me see it too

Narps....

It’s a quiet kind of heartbreak, isn’t it? That gradual slipping away of something that once anchored our days. You remember the anticipation—the way you’d check the schedule weeks ahead, block out evenings, maybe even plan snacks or message friends to sync up. The West Indies on the field meant a special kind of energy: the flamboyance, the rhythm, the sense of possibility.

Now, maybe you still check the fixtures, but your heart doesn’t leap quite the same way. The reasons are countless—the team’s fortunes have dipped, maybe the stars you grew up watching have moved on, maybe life’s simply busier or heavier. Whatever it is, you feel it: the slow erosion of a ritual that once felt as essential as sunlight.

But there’s a tenderness to that loss, too—a testament to how much those moments meant. Even as the passion fades, it leaves behind a residue: memories of roaring at a TV, tense final overs, and laughter and frustration shared with others who cared just as much.

Perhaps, one day, something will rekindle that spark—a new player, a remarkable comeback, or simply the right moment. Until then, it’s okay to mourn what has slipped away and to remember that your love for the game, even if quieter now, was once bright enough to shape your days. And that matters.

CWI does not listen. They do not want changes. They like it so. Many here have said it umpteen times before. CWI is an old boys club. I don't know when West Indian people will understand and accept that fact. They do not represent us. The players do not represent us. They represent the CWI. We did not elect any of these people and they are not answerable to anyone.
If they were interested in real change all they would have needed to do was/is read some of the comments and suggestions right here. Yes. Some of our posters are insular and only push their homeboys but most of the posters here are passionate about West Indies cricket and yearn for a return to the golden days. And oh. Please find a new anthem. Rally around what we have now, makes no sense and is wishful thinking.

Rally.. From the first day it played I have put Mute on.Never listened to it no time.sad
What is wrong with playing the National Anthem of the host regional country when playing at home
for starters.

I have never heard the anthems of most Regional countries. It is an omission that must be corrected
in future. Respect is due//cry
