You cannot have it both ways.
There was very little support. HERE for La Cucaracha when he was dropped in Bim.
Maybe the CWI learned from that mistake and did it right for Russell.
Russell did announce his retirement.
May after consultation with CWI/Scammy; who knows.

You should appreciate and congratulate CWI for the occasion,
and hope that they continue such going forward.

Who knows, maybe La Cucaracha will be honored in the next game in Barbados.

All credit to Andre Russell for timing the announcement of his retirement to coincide with games scheduled for his home ground.
