The most successful cricket promotion in the history of the region was when a chicken company in St Vincent held a free fried chicken giveaway at Arnos Vale a few years ago.

WASN’T A CRASH. IT WAS A RIOT

The first one-day international at Arnos Vale was certainly one to forget for the hosts. The 84-run loss to Australia was the Windies' third defeat in 27 years in Kingstown, and was marked by an apparent shoulder injury to emerging batsman Xavier Marshall and a crowd revolt that caused play to be halted for 10 minutes while the field was cleared of debris.

In addition to a bottle-throwing incident, a mini-riot erupted in between innings when more than a thousand spectators broke down a fence to loot a utility vehicle packed with fried chicken. Several people were knocked to the ground in the crush, and the driver of the van was accosted by several angry youths.
