Rowley was ‘delayed’, not detained
Antigua AG to get report today into airport incident...
Antigua and Barbuda Attorney General and Minister of Justice Steadroy “Cutie” Olivero Benjamin said yesterday that former prime minister Dr Keith Rowley was not detained in that country—he was delayed. In a telephone interview with the Express, Benjamin, who also holds responsibility for Immigration, said he has requested a report into what transpired when Rowley entered Antigua, and expects to receive it today.“From my information, his processing was delayed. However, Antigua and Barbuda has no difficulty with Mr Rowley and would do nothing to prevent his free movement from Antigua to any other jurisdiction,” he said.
Asked why Rowley was delayed, the minister responded that he could not provide any reasons as he was not familiar with the details of the incident.“I will be getting a full report in the morning (today),” said Benjamin
However, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) issued a release stating that Rowley had not been placed on any Interpol watch list. The Prime Minister also indicated she had instructed Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander to investigate the matter, and she received a report reiterating the TTPS’ findings—that Rowley’s name was not on Interpol’s list.
