After just one series in charge of the West Indies Test team, all-formats coach Daren Sammy is coming under increasing scrutiny with former Windies team officials and one Caribbean Prime Minister as to whether the job is simply too big for one man.
Former West Indies batting coach Toby Radford, St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, and former West Indies selector Roland Butcher have all questioned the wisdom of giving Sammy responsibility for all three formats as head coach.
Speaking on the Mason and Guest show in Barbados last week, Radford described the team’s recent collapse for just 27 runs against England as “the perfect storm” that highlighted deep-rooted problems in Caribbean cricket.
“It was awful to watch. I felt sorry for the players and the followers,” Radford said. “What it exposed…there are frailties in that batting line-up, and the pink ball is probably the hardest ball that you can face.”

After the embarrassment we suffered in the test series, the new brand 27 coach Darren Sammy should have resigned at least as red ball coach. After a 5/0 sweep in the white ball series Sammy should have been fired. In case we forget here is Sammy’s record the last 12 months:
Swept 3/0 against Bangladesh in t20
Swept 3/0 against England in ODI
Swept 3/0 against England in t20
Swept 3/0 against Australia in test series
Swept 5/0 against Australia in t20 series
So what are we waiting on to fire the Brand 27 swept coach? Are we going to wait until every West Indian stop playing or watching cricket to fire him?
