UK PM and Canada threaten to recognize Palestinian State

Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Tuesday the U.K. will recognize a Palestinian state in September — unless Israel agrees to a ceasefire in Gaza and takes steps toward long-term peace.

Keir Starmer says the UK will recognise a Palestinian state at a UN meeting in September unless Israel meets certain conditions.

He says the recognition will happen unless the Israeli government takes "substantive steps to end the appalling situation in Gaza", including a ceasefire and a commitment to a long-term peace process
Most countries - about 139 in all - formally recognise a Palestinian state, and last week France pledged to do so at the same UN meeting.

Earlier, Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry said more than 60,000 Palestinians have now been killed since Israel's offensive began.

A UN-backed food security body also said "the worst-case scenario of famine is currently playing out" in Gaza; Israel insists there are no restrictions on aid deliveries and that there is "no starvation"
Israel does not allow international news organisations, including the BBC, into Gaza to report freely.

When they ‘recognise’ Palestine, under occupation, blockade, no freedom of movement or self determination, it is just an empty gesture with no substance or enforceable articles.

Nothing changes on the ground, for the few people left standing or breathing

Well, England might be doing this now to lessen whatever consequences might come down on them at a later time, they like the USA were the main suppliers of weapons that assisted in the present genocide and the land thief that has been on for decades. What callous hypocrites.

Horrific display of callousness and disrespect for the 60,000 lives lost and risk of starvation to all Palestinians by countries around the world. Let it was one Israeli, or American or Canadian or European child facing hunger due to cruelty by Middle Eastern persons, then news and outrage would have been all over the media with condemnation of child abuse.
