Most may already know that Shallow is running on the Opposition ticket.....after apparently being courted first by Ralph.
Even since it was announced, Ralph has been attacking the man. It's claimed that he recently referred to Shallow as "a little black boy"....a contrast to "portugese" Ralph.
The declining fortunes of West Indies cricket has given him ample fodder to try show up Shallow at every turn.
But the most recent fallout is apparently related to an Emancipation Day cricket tournament in Vincy organized by Ralph's people, that Shallow advised first needed to be sanctioned by CWI via the local association.
Despite saying it was mere protocol and that he was not opposed to the tournament, he took plenty licks for it. But that wasn't all.
The cricket went ahead over this weekend And as part of the build-up, what did Ralph do? He brought in the 1975 World Cup Legends and been parading them all over!!
I saw Lloyd, Greenidge, Roberts, Murray and a couple more in a pic. Not sure who else came.
Plus he brought a vote to Parliament to give them honorary Vincy citizenship (which has been a separate hot button issue in the country)!!
The Opposition leader abstained....but it didn't matter.
Apart from Ralph himself, the face of the tournament and the honoring of the Legends has been the government minister who Shallow will be coming up directly against, in a very marginal constituency. The fella is not even the Sports Minister. But he, not Shallow, is the new face of cricket!
