Nice dream; however, Hope bats at #4.
I too prefer him to open.

With Hope, Jewel, and Jangoo, we won't be short on 'keepers.

What.... Where is Holder? Does this guy Sammy know what de h3ll he doing?
In reply to positiveg
we not winning a game
No Hetty! Not interested? Not considered??
In reply to StumpCam
Injured for the T20’s.
Maybe the same here
Hope has expressed concern about Pakistani spinners, so he is anticipating a spinners wicket. But we just pick one. Does that make sense? I don't have much information on the pitches at the Brian Lara stadium, but I would have thought at least 2 spinners should be in the 15. I also question the exclusion of Holder. That also make no sense. Maybe Sammy should publish that stats that picked this 15.

West Indies have previously played a single ODI at Brian Lara Stadium against India which India won by 200 runs
SCORECARD

like Sammy picking this team by casting lots. No Athanaze, no Holder. Ah wonder if he picked Jangoo because the games in Trinidad.

WOW! That is some thrashing!
King, Carty, Hope (c), Hetmyer all failed in that match.
Time to include a specialist captain that knows how to make the right call at the coin toss!

More licks coming soon...
Chase is a spinner also.
In fact he was given the ball before Motie in the T20's .....
In reply to Kay
He gave himself the ball before Warrican in the 1st test against Oz too
In reply to imusic
7 of the CWI wickets in that beat down went to Indian medium pacers. So if it is that type of wicket Holder would definitely been an asset.
Chase is considered a genuine spinner.
WI has two spinners in this squad.
Any word on how Goolie's cricket has unfolded recently?

Only by this current management team and some fans on cc.com

When last Jangoo or Lewis played any cricket?
I’m thinking the tour of Ireland?
And given that Sammy gave an interview where he said we “glorify” players with “20 something” averages & need to move past that as justification for dropping Athanaze and Hodge from the test team, how is Roston Chase a de facto guaranteed starter in every format, far less being captain of the test team?
These are Chase’s stats in 2025:
Test
Matches - 3
Runs - 114
Batting Avg - 19.00
Wickets - 1
Bowling Avg - 70.00
ODI
Matches - 6
Runs - 95
Batting Avg - 19.00
Strike Rate - 79.16
Wickets - 4
Bowling Avg - 36.75
Econ Rate - 5.88
T20
Matches - 10
Runs - 142
Batting Avg - 20.28
Strike Rate - 133.96
Wickets - 5
Bowling Avg - 32.60
Econ Rate - 9.40

Given the statistics you submitted, sammy prefers to glorify players who average 19.
Forde is out. He injured his shoulder attempting a catch during practice. His place in the squad has been taken by Johann Layne, the tall young quick from Barbados who was recently selected for the test squad against Australia, although he did not play. With Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales, Jediah Blades and Romario Shepherd also in the squad, Layne may well spend the series on the sidelines once again but even if he does that, it is at least another chance for him to experience international level performance up close - even if it is only from Pakistan!
