Unfortunately, NVIDIA does not manufacture chips in the United States.

I wonder if Taiwan and other chip manufacturer countries have laws prohibiting other countries from taxing products manufactured within their borders and not destined for the country imposing the tax ...

Wouldn't that depend on whether or not NVIDIA is operating in a Free Trade Zone?

NVIDIA designs the AI-chips in the United States and the chips are manufactured by a company named Taiwan Semiconductor in Taiwan, but I don't know if the manufacturing takes place in a free zone. That 15% of revenues "arrangement" on NVIDIA and AMD AI-chip sales to China raises serious questions relating to the US Constitution's prohibition against export taxes. It is also highly discriminatory because it singles out NVIDIA and AMD and does not apply to other companies that export to China. I am still trying to figure out the justification for the 15% arrangement. It cannot be national security ...

If Taiwan Semiconductor is a registered Taiwanese company, then the exports will belong to Taiwan regardless of the chips being designed by NVIDIA. So if NVIDIA have them on their books as chip exports to China, they will be treated as imports from Taiwan

NVIDIA also manufactures AI-chips in Arizona and Texas, but I suspect it's only a small fraction of their sales. A tax on those will clearly be illegal. Regarding AI-chips manufactured in Taiwan, what gives Trump the right to tax exports from Taiwan to China? That was the original question raised in my initial posts on this thread.

....like a mafia extortion ring

It has already been established that TACO, Tariff man is actually operating an extortion ring. 5 million for private dinner, 1 million for public dinner. Meme coin receipts as a means of getting an audience. Law firms, universities, Media houses - CBS $16M extortion payment. And these are the ones we know about. Its probably way worse than we think.

The 15 percent payment is a special deal negotiated directly with Trump, outside of standard tariff laws, that allows Nvidia and AMD to obtain export licenses to sell their AI chips in China. Trump is bragging about taking in money, even though it is coming from American businesses and consumers. Self-destruction will soon come.
