To compare the Rebel tour - and their honorary white status -with cricketers looking a franchise work is utter dishonesty. West Indians played in Leagues and counties in England for ages.

Rewriting history, sadly the younger generation will believe it without question or research Many rebels were prominent county players, many others league.

Why do we continue with this misnomer about the "Rebel" Tours?

Nothing rebellious about those sell-outs!

Yagga Rowe - my all-time favourite batsman- and those other Honorary Whites were shameless Collaborators, who were engaged to help sports wash the vile apartheid system.

I've never forgiven Jimmy Cliff either. Stipulation that Black Africans had to be at the show not enough to remove the stench. Don't know why Sobers even went to Rhodesia. Post retirement my favorite WI batsman ThebGreat Babu played in the segregatedIndian league in SA too.

Don't know why Sobers even went to Rhodesia.

He was paid to go play in a double wicket tournament.

He was either going to be banned, or was banned, until Forbes Burnham intervened. And Rhodesia under Ian Smith practiced the same apartheid that South Africa did.

Caribbean people CONVENIENTLY overlooked Sobers’ transgression then based on who he was/is.

Never knew about Kanhai playing in apartheid SA. Jimmy Cliff subsequently apologized for playing in Sun City.

Rowe has never apologized and, 40 years later he is still trying to rationalize his perfidy and showing his ignorance.

Peter Tosh got a contract to play in SA circa 1980 and was prepared to go until he was persuaded not to. He said he was going into the belly of the beast to confront apartheid with a full frontal assault by singing his most militant songs.

He naively drew an analogy between Rome and the Pope- which is anathema to traditional Rastas- when he played there to "confront Pope Paul"

Sobers did apologize for playing in apartheid Rhodesia. Forbes Burnham was at the vanguard of the move to ban him and, as is recall, explicitly stated that he could not set foot in Guyana until he issue a formal apology for allowing himself to be used to sports wash institutional racism in. Rhodesia.
