Berbice is community cricket which evolved around that great sugar club.

We all despise colonialism…

When they planned communities, plenty of playing spaces were planned and executed. They almost laid the foundations of county cricket at all age levels. Not only the sport of cricket, rounders, volleyball, soccer, table tennis…
Sports was not an afterthought.

In my honest opinion, Empire should have moved decades ago to a bigger location, as that ground is for U13 cricket.

lol

Bro - neo-liberalism is merely a different form of colonialism.

Ask Dr. Dukes, somewhere in Berbice.

U R Correct!!!!

Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club must be the best run cricket club in the West Indies.

It might sound arrogant since I have not done a study of cricket clubs in the region but what they have accomplished is mind boggling.

The club was formed in 1990 and to the best of my certain knowledge has produced three test players.Assad Fuddadin,Kevin Sinclair and Kevlon Anderson. In 35 years they have produced at least 128 players for Berbice,Guyana and the West Indies. They have also produced thousands of good human beings and through their programs have been extremely helpful to the community at large.
As an example of what I am talking about, Kevlon Anderson, and the cousins Kevin and Junior Sinclair all started at the club when they were 11 or 12 years old and are still with the club.It is not a rich club but they work hard, smart and are honest, God fearing people. They run summer programs, are involved in educational support for their members and even had a few former members in the US band together and hold a fund raiser to support the club with much needed equipment. The person who's been instrumental in all this fantastic work is Hilbert Foster who because of his hard work was appointed President of the Berbice Cricket Board and was even a Director on the CWI Board but sadly because of Guyana Cricket Board politics is no longer involved with either Berbice cricket Board or Guyana Cricket Board.
It is Hilbert Foster who worked with me to get Curtly Ambrose in Berbice for the clinics in 2022 and 2024 as well as getting Andy Roberts,Roland Butcher and the Late Clyde Butts to come to Berbice to work with the players.Hilbert was one of the Founder members of Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club and for 35 years has given yeoman service to his club, county, country and region.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!
He is the Chairman of the Selectors but that is it.
The two glaring people who have no role to play in the GCB are Roger Harper and Neil Barry.
No prizes for guessing why they have no role to play in Guyana cricket.
For reference ask Ian Bishop about Neil Barry's capabilities.
Roger Harper is President of DCC, the club of Lloyd,Gibbs and Fredericks and Imlach of more recent vintage.
Barry was President of the Georgetown Cricket Association and he and Harper are responsible for the Queens College ground which is second only to the National Stadium in terms of best cricket grounds in Guyana.

It is obvious to me why West Indies cricket is in the doldrums. If we had people who really cared about our young people and sought to develop them as hard working, caring individuals from pre-teens ,then we could develop people with the right attitude.Sadly we have businessmen whose only interest is to use West Indies cricket to profile and increase their money making ability. The players are not stupid.they recognize that the administrators do not care bout them so their attitude is to try to get as much money as possible, as quickly as they can.

Bissoondyal Singh, Member Director, Guyana Cricket Board - Mr. Singh is the President of the Guyana Cricket Board. He is a successful businessman and experienced sports administrator with a deep love for the game of cricket. Mr. Singh is one of six commissioners for the National Sports Commission in his native, Guyana.

Cringe worthy the above…to break it down would be adding insult to injury.

Deleep Singh, Member Director, Guyana Cricket Board - Mr. Singh's profile includes serving in prominent positions in religious educational and social organisations including the Sanatan Dharm Par Upkaaric Sabha, Shri Sookdeojie Ashram, Charity Development Committee and Guyana School of Agriculture (GSA) where earlier as a student he earned a diploma with distinction. Also a graduate of the Lousianna State University (USA), Mr. Singh is currently the proprietor of WD’S hotel & Mall at Charity. He is an astute businessman who is involved in large-scale coconut, cattle and rice farming and gold mining.

I didn’t make this up

I know a successful trader on Wall Street with a ‘deep love for cricket’ …I’ll ask him to contest the next election.
