Agree! This guy has some talent, more so than current WI batsmen.

He is a game finisher, it seems, in the breakout league. For 2 or maybe three games, he was at the crease for the Trinidad-based team when they won the game. He is not a big hitter (although hard enough) but he seems to have a knack for timing the chase.

Kudos to the young man for batting through a difficult period when he could hardly middle the ball, and then finishing relatively strongly. But if you take his full innings into consideration, he batted too slow on a good batting wicket. An exceptional innings by Holder masked his inertia. I have a theory that Johnson Charles purposely declined to take the dolly of a catch when Bidaisee was like 10 off of 17 balls.

That said, Holder must shoulder much of the blame for the loss with questionable tactics in the field (letting Charles tee off in the powerplay without facing a spinner; bowling Bidaisee so late he the could only get in one over; overthinking tactics when he himself was bowling to David)

Agree. I was surprised that did not use more spinners on that wicket.

By now Holder should have developed strong situational awareness.

You mean by now he doesnt know Charles weakness or lack of effectiveness against spin?

That is besides the point!
How many of our current WI batsmen can calmly come down the track without losing their shape to a world class spinner and hit him consecutively for 4 and 6??

Looks good except vs Pace! Should have been out on 7. Plays spin well and can bowl.

Shamsi is not World class! Don't know why SLK picked him up! Man is a runs truck! Ordinary!

Shamsi is a world class spinner? Please? By the time Bidaisee hit his first boundary he had already faced 18 balls for 11 runs. By that time Shamsi had already gone for 31 runs in 2 overs so the 15 runs he hit in Shamsi's 3rd over (the 16th over of the innings) was at best on par. The young man did well in his first match but he also may have contributed to the loss with his slow strike rate. I watched the full game and saw him consistently struggle to find the middle of the bat against other bowlers

Anybody can look at Shamsi and see he is a pie thrower. Sammy better get Mckenzie some experience and confidence. Noor Ahmad was one of the key reasons we won the CPL last season. Quality spinner dat!

I'll give him a pass. It was his debut match and you could see he was nervous at the start of his innings where he was very tentative.

But boy did he unfurl some wonderful strokes and lusty strikes when he got his eyes in and his confidence was up.

He looks a fine young cricketer to me. Kept his cool under pressure right down to the last ball which missed being a boundary (and the winning runs) by a meter or so. Hopefully he stays far away from the swell headed prima donnas in Tittie and continues to focus on improving his cricket.
