Stanford T20s sold out every match. Those were the exciting old days. Properly marketed and executed. Always exciting and entertaining.

The ball went off the pads and the keeer whipped the bails off. But he had made it back in time. The ball dribbled back to the keeper and Pooran seemed confident but Bevon Jacobs did well to get back. He had almost started walking but

different ground....why they build this stadium in the middle of nowhere?

Again Stanford and ARG are much smaller grounds so 5k is full house. SVRS has a cap of 10k . I have been to both the ARG and SVRS and you can understand the difference.

I suspect a few factors re: the new stadium vs the ARG

They wanted to build a monument to King Viv, but it didn’t work.

Was the new stadium built in time for the 2007 World Cup? A number of stadia were built in the region specifically for that tournament and some turned out to be poor investments.

The stadium in North Sound has always suffered from a lack of atmosphere. Does not have the intimacy of the old ARG. It’s also apparently far from the city.

There’s one in Jamaica that turned out to be a white elephant. I don’t even know if they even use that stadium anymore.

There’s one in Grenada that doesn’t Appear to be used very much

Only Providence, the Kensington Oval Reno, and BCL stadium appear to be positive legacies from that World Cup.

Yes it was built for the 2007 Worldcup for approx 60mil, mostly financed by the Chinese. The ground is outside of the Capital and again you are not going to get 10k in that Stadium for regional cricket, even CPL. With the history of the ARG they should have just renovated that ground. Right in the heart of the capital

The multipurpose stadium at Trelawny has a 25k capacity and is rarely used for cricket, but other sports and concerts.

Grenada's national cricket stadium 20k was used recently for the Test match vs OZ. That was renovated and used to be named Queens park.

Both Grenada and Antigua stadia are too big considering their respective population sizes.

Grenada also has a T&F stadium right next to the cricket stadium right?

Given the side of the population…..hard to make full use of both

Correct. That started in 2017 when/after it was opened. Construction started in 2004 as it was targeted to open for the 2007 world cup but never did.

You really think iTito can't remember that the Lara stadium was only fit to graze cow and sheep for an entire decade after the conclusion of WC 2007? lol

The soil engineers fcuked up and the stadium was the Tittie version of the Leaning Tower of Piza where it was sloping to one side. They needed it to settle fully before they could finish it and of course it became a political issue as well as to which administration wanted to spend the money to finish it.

It was not full, and it may never because of its size per capita, but that was a nice crowd last night.....and they were treated to an excited match in the end. Unfortunately one of my teams had to lose.

Born in the rush to host a World Cup, the Brian Lara complex went up on reclaimed land uncomfortably close to a fault line—issues engineers flagged only after the concrete was poured. Governments turned over, priorities shifted, and fixes couldn’t come in time. One administration redirected funds to schools and essential services. Another later took up the challenge, solved the geotechnical headaches, and finally brought the project home. Today, the complex hums—hosting first-class fixtures, U15 and U19 tournaments, and international cricket. Alongside Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad and Tobago now boasts two world-class cricket venues that many would argue are unmatched in the Caribbean.

You all shoot your mouths, without any facts. Cricket is one of the many events Being hosted in Grenada. The country built its infrastructure to accommodate it-citizens needs. The SVR stadium, is owned by CWI, its their headquarters, and academy.

This issue comes up a lot for the Sir Viv and Providence stadia

What’s the big issue in providing shuttle buses or Park and Rides from the main hubs? It’s not like you’re trying to fill Wembley or the Camp Nou!

There's a pox on that ground.

They should just burn it down and relocated back to the old ARG.
