Canada didn't purchase those subs...they traded the rights for British jets to do training runs in the northern part of Quebec.
One sub did catch fire owing to poor English electrical wiring.
They were recommissioned in Canada and outfitted with the latest technology.
Still cheaper than purchasing two new subs.
