The TT government is set to amend the "granny rule" at its earliest convenience,so say Minister of Sports Phillip Watts.TT may not have the players marked out for the match against Yard but may have them against Curacao.

Dude….no amount of adopting granny rule will help T&T

We might get some help if we adopt an emergency naturalized citizen rule thereby Making eligible every member of the Venezuelan national team

So name the players who would be eligible for T&T of this rule were to become enacted.

Will it expand the pool of available resources? Absolutely

But will it have any significant difference to our football performances? I’m very skeptical about that.

We can’t even get our current scouting system organized properly, we think this will make a meaningful difference to a broken program?

This announcement to me is more political with govt & TTFA trying to capitalize on current interest in WCQ by making it seem “they doing something”, than actually doing something.

Which leagues?

Jamaica’s diaspora is VASTLY different than T&T’s. Even from a sheer volume standpoint.

Or maybe you believe that Ethan Nwainieri’s great grandfather was a trini.

Maybe Nico Williams’ brother would be eligible too. Little late for Lamine Yamal or else he too woulda be eligible.

In the meantime, I’ll wait for your list of eligible players.

I can't recall names and countries off my head but reading the Website there are about 6 players that would or could play for TT.There are some very respectable posters, very articulate and experienced.I trust what they post,I am aware that many don't come up to standard.I don't believe everything I read. I see that you want to make my post comical,I would now ease up on anymore comments on this topic.

Group A

El Salvador 1-2 Suriname
Panama 1-1 Guatemala

Suriname leads Group A with 4 points, El Salvador 3, Panama 2 & Guatemala 1.

There are no easy games in world cup qualifying in CONCACAF.

What is wrong with Panama, I know that Surinam has stepped up a bit with some Dutch born players but I still rated Panama as good as Jamaica,CR and Canada.

Ireally thought it was possible because Yard was missing so many players,"Lord have Mercy"when they come back.I thought TT played good enough to get out with a draw, wasn'to be.We did put 2 in the Jamaican net but both were ruled off side, they were close calls.I think we will have to come through the backdoor,Curacao is not that great as most were saying. We threw 2 points away against them,BVI showed that Curacao is not that difficult,Curacao just about did a job.

Yeah, Trinidad were unlucky. Jamaica's midfield continues to struggle without a good ball handler. Curacao has not looked as good as expected. Maybe that is due to some new players in the team, takes time to gel. They could be better come October.

In Group C, surprise, surprise. Haiti drew 3-3 away to Costa Rica!

The favorites Panama & Costa Rica have it all to do come the October window. Jamaica has an exciting window in October!

Yorke’s post game comments

I think Yorke has done a good job with this T&T team…they have improved markedly from when he took charge….

Good luck to him and his team for the rest of the qualifiers….

I wasn't sure about Yorke but having looked at this match we have definitely improved, quite a bit too,we missed Molino and Phillips who were on Yellows in the last match. If we continue the way we are playing we may be a good second, hopefully we could be in a playoff.I think Jamaica got this in the bag.

that wouldn't have helped. trinidad has a serious issue scoring goals against even the medium level opposition in concacaf like curacao. we might get through to the playoffs if we beat down curacao, maul bermuda and beat JA at home, but the playoff tourney will be very difficult as well

In the third round, the twelve teams advancing from the second round have been drawn into three groups of four teams. They will play round-robin home-and-away matches, with the three group winners qualifying for the World Cup. The two best-ranked runners-up will advance to the inter-confederation play-offs.[4]

The part highlighted in bold is instructive and MAYBE unclear.

If qualification were to end today, the 2 HIGHEST RANKED 2nd place (runners up) in the competition are:
Curacao
El Salvador

Of the 12 teams in the third round, the following 7 teams are all ranked higher than T&T:
Panama
Costa Rica
Jamaica
Honduras
El Salvador
Curacao
Haiti

I take this to mean that even if T&T were to win all of our remaining games (that would give us 13 points), and those 13 points were the best point total of any team finishing in the runner up spot in their group, any 2 teams from one of those 7 teams identified, with less points, would qualify for the Inter Continental Playoff ahead of T&T.

So it final standings COULD look like this:

Group A winner - Suriname
Group A runner up - El Salvador

Group B winner - Jamaica
Group B runner up - T&T

Group C winner - Honduras
Group C runner up - Costa Rica

T&T could have more points than El Salvador and Costa Rica, but both would qualify ahead of T&T because their respective FIFA rankings are higher.

T&T’s only FAINT hope of qualifying is to somehow win their group by hoping Jamaica drops points against Curacao, and somehow Curacao drops points against Bermuda at home.

In other words…..we’re fucked!

And it’s only game 2.

No, it's the 2 best ranked teams in this final round (points, goal difference, goal scored etc), not FIFA rankings. That is how it is in the other confeds. A reason why Nigeria and Cameroon could be in trouble in Africa.

We still fucked.

Anything less than a victory in Bermuda on next match day and we’ll be all but mathematically eliminated.

I see us ending up with MAYBE 6 points in total

T&T planning to shoot themselves in the foot?

The revolving door coaching is a recipe for disaster..Yorke has been doing a very good job notwithstanding the results in my humble opinion..

I know it will be difficult, the playoffs that is,If we can do what you wrote and that is a possibility then a stumble by Yard which never fails, you never know. From a Jamaican view and even non Jamaicans it looks easy for them at the moment.

look so. the talent pool is limited. we are not producing the type of players that have the discipline to maintain shape when pressured or have the focus to clinically finish an attack. trinidad football still is at an embryonic stage. players still feel they have room to be a harlem globetrotter on the pitch. I don't think the chaos that enveloped the ttfa in the aftermath of the 2006 wc has helped either

yeah. i can't see any ja game being lost right now. i doh even think tt being at the wc would be a good idea anyway. more south american and european teams are in the tournament right now and we've never had a good record against them. is not like a novice nations like New Caledonia or Cape Verde that are or almost certainly will be in their first world cup. it would be teams like bolivia, paraguay, norway etc. those sorts of teams would embarrass us the way we are playing at the moment
