WIPA’s Comedy of Defenders: Oh, he knows the inside. “sh#t.”
Ah yes, the grand defence of WIPA, delivered by an individual whose résumé reads more like a cautionary tale than a badge of authority. There he stood, puffing his chest and declaring that WIPA isn’t shattered. Not weakened. Not rotting. No, apparently it’s alive and well! One has to wonder: which WIPA is he talking about? Certainly not the one the players endured in India.
And his great counterargument? A masterclass of intellect boiled down to one word: “sh#t.” Shakespeare must be weeping with envy at such eloquence. Why bother with logic, evidence, or even basic honesty when you can throw playground insults instead? It’s almost refreshing in its laziness.
Let’s be real: this is brilliance misplaced. Once upon a time, perhaps, there was a spark. But somewhere along the line, it turned into the kind of brilliance that forgets how to construct a rational sentence. That’s not leadership;it’s verbal fast food.
And really, maybe he should have stuck to his chef days in Yardland. At least there, when things got burned, the only ones who suffered were the customers. In WIPA, when it bungled, entire careers carried the smoke.
Then comes the endless merry-go-round of WICB job applications. Knock, knock. Rejected. Knock again. Rejected. How many times must one be turned away before the hint is taken? Yet here he is, defending the indefensible with the confidence of a man who thought “No” meant “try again.”
Yes, the WICB has been dreadful at hiring management talent—we all know this. But the cruel irony is that if they had hired this incapable individual, it would have proven their reputation correct. In fact, it might have been their most consistent decision yet.Dismissing uncomfortable truths doesn’t erase the betrayals that players themselves endured. If you’re going to defend WIPA, at least mount a case worthy of the cause. Anything else simply confirms what so many already know, both the institution, and those who cling to its excuses, have become exactly what they so carelessly call others: sh#t.
So when this failed candidate shows up, waving his arms and shouting “sh#t” as his entire case, it’s less a defence and more a comedy routine.
Unfortunately for Caribbean cricket, nobody’s laughing.
