Yeah.

I never liked the idea of players fielding the ball once they had stepped outside the boundary ropes.

Boundaries are boundaries for a reason.

I mentioned that recently here,

If took effect in international cricket only. It is not in effect for other games as yet.

I would have liked to see one additional change: The fielder should land in the playing area before catching the ball....when they jump back in from outside the boundary.

What are you trying to achieve with that tweak? It takes away the diving catch? Surely WHERE you land is more important than WHEN?

Where you start is equally as important. One should be legally in the field of play when taking a catch, diving, in the air or not.
