In the T20 format
Too much predictability.
You have a role, you execute or you don’t.

In the case with the GAW, you cannot captain your way out of bad team selection compounded by an even more stupid batting order.
You may argue that the captain IS part of that selection process.
Well that’s a decision of qualification as a selector based on team dynamics.

Do not agree. You still need to know who and when to use for specific "role".

But one can make those decisions pregame.

There is that of course, but during a game, going at knots, pregame may not be the right game.

Let’s look at the IPL and Narine opening the batting or Akeal opening the bowling for TKR…
It’s not an on field decision. Risky however rewarding decisions.

Yes you can have a plan pre- game but you must be flexible to make adjustments as the position of the game demands. He must understand matchups, have good knowledge of data, do his homework on players, and have good match awareness.

Yuh mean if yuh doh have a good captain. Trinidad’s T20 legacy, which is one of our biggest sporting achievements in 63 years of independence was engineered by Daren Ganga. Many people don’t like Ganga as a person, they find he’s arrogant and opinionated. Some of his own teammates didn’t even like him. But nobody can deny that the style of T20 cricket, pioneered by the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force team, and popularized by a host of teams throughout the world, including the West Indies, was the creation of Daren Ganga. That man has earned the respect of t20 cricket through his intelligence and innovation.

Listen I don’t hate DG
He was actually an example of good tactician/captaincy…
He’s in commentary like some of West Indians suited for better roles.

Sorry but wherever this fallacy is promulgated I must register my denial of this Bigly Alternative Fact.

Me ‘not liking’ Ganga for elevating himself to some kind of mentor for Chris Gayle or leader in the WI dressing room is parallel but independent of the view that teams were innovating long before Ganga made his debut.

Ganga doesn’t own Badree and Narine. Wherever and whenever they played, coaches with even half a brain would have found their optimal use. Even man like Gambhir seemed to work it out.
