@ Edrich

Hope has played 4 tests now and nothing special. Time to relieve him.

Sammy seems to believe that if you can make runs in ODI cricket then you can make runs in test cricket. I vehemently disagree.
Let me posit this.NOBODY has been successful in test cricket who has not been successful in first class cricket and conversely all the people who fail at first class cricket have failed at test cricket Kacey Carty has failed at first class cricket and has failed at test cricket.
Shai Hope has been failing in test cricket for 8 years (2018 to present).During that time he has played a grand total of 4 first class matches outside of test cricket. He has not had the cricketing routine of scoring centuries and batting for 4 hours with 2 slips and a gully etc so he has not had any practice at this so the chance of him being successful is near zero.It is amazing that such basic logic escapes Sammy. He has no examples of batsmen failing in first class cricket and being successful at test cricket.I am amazed at how he has managed to sell such garbage to people who have been watching cricket for decades. It is unadulterated BS.
When people want to believe BULLCRAP they will ignore what is patently obvious. Please read the article on STUPIDOLOGY in the back room.
The classic example of ALTERNATE FACTS is that David Warner was picked to play test cricket because of his performances in T 20 cricket. This is an example of people ignoring FACTS and delving into pure fiction.David Warner played a couple of matches for Australia A in first class cricket and scored 211 and 82 and 65 and followed this up with a masterful 148 for New South Wales and was promptly drafted in to the test team.
I challenge any and everybody to show me a successful test cricketer who has not been successful in first class cricket.
IT DOES NOT HAPPEN.I told several people that Kacey Carty will fail in test cricket because he has not shown the capacity required.
Test cricket requires an ability to concentrate for long periods.I remember about 25 years ago talking to Len Baichan who was a dour Guyanese batsman who played about 3 or 4 test matches and scored a century in Pakistan on debut. He told me that he trained by running 10 miles every day.and he was very defensive when he came out to bat and he knew that when the fast bowlers came back for their second spell and then their third spell after tea that they would be tired and stray in length and line and he would pounce on them and score freely then.Baichan averaged 50 in first class cricket and 46 in test cricket. A former top class cricketer lamented that people are not scoring double centuries in our domestic first class cricket because it is that type of display that augers well for successful test batsmen.

I thought he (and the clown Bascombe) were relying on analytics, perhaps this slipped by the ANALysts. This reinforces (along with other acts of stupidity - see his handling of Andrew and Anderson) the point that sammy is a doofus who is just throwing up stuff and hoping that something sticks then he can face the media and preen.

Entire thinking of Sammy.....relating to inclusion of Hope, without any 1st class game.....total no. 2.....was to play Hope at keeper-batsman at 6.....all rounder at 7.....If
Silva would have been much better choice but ...
As for Imlach....in Pakistan he exceptional..

It is because Sammy has been coaching for the last three years. With good results against second string teams, and beat downs against the few that actually field full strength teams. The ODI series in 2023, England sent a 2nd string side here because the first XI were exhausted by the World Cup that year which just preceded the tour. The India team last year that we beat 3-2 in the t20 series just before the World Cup was again a 2nd string team. When Australia fielded a full strength side down under following the tied test series, we got mauled, for the first time not winning the t20 leg of the tour. Ditto with the World Cup last year, we beat an ill prepared nz side…barely, an afghan team that had already qualified for the 2nd round. The rest were associates like USA, PNG, Uganda…we won no games against tournament contenders. Got beaten up by England and South Africa. And this is in addition to not qualifying for the World Cup and being dumped out by the Netherlands. The test team is just a continuation of his incompetence with the ODI squad

To be fair to sammy he can only beat who is in front of him. That said, "The test team (results) is just a continuation of his incompetence with the ODI squad". Consequently, he should be sacked before we face further humiliation with him and his brain dead leadership further doom us.
