Bernard Julien Dead at 75
In my opinion, the second best all-Rounder the West Indies produced.
I feel the same sadness that I felt when David Murray passed.In both cases the statistics did not adequately reflect the enormity of their talent.
Former Trinidad and Tobago and West Indies all-rounder Bernard Julien has died at the age of 75.The cause of his death is not known at this time. Julien, a member of the victorious West Indies 1975 ICC Cricket World Cup squad, was often referred to as a stylish, versatile, and dependable all-rounder.These characteristics came to the fore during that 1975 tournament in England and, in particular, his ability to swing the ball in the early years of One Day Internationals.
However, Julien’s career at the top of West Indies cricket was curtailed by his appearance in the 1977 Kerry Packer World Series tournament, followed by the 1982-83 and 1983-84 ‘rebel’ tours to then apartheid South Africa.
RIP
@imusic
One of the best talents that ever came out of the Region. Had admirable qualities as a left arm fast
medium bowler, a solid yet aggressive right handed batter ,good fielder whose versatility also
included an ability to bowl left arm spin if called to do so from his Under 19 years.
A wonderful cricketer whose Test career included 2 Test centuries one of which was at the game's HQ ,Lord's.
Pity that circumstances and life's decisions curtailed his services to the Regional Game prematurely.
He was one of my favorite cricketers.
RIP Bernard Julien .
