All these ungrateful Dottie fans calling for King to be dropped when the player just top scored for West Indies and when there are NO CONSISTENT batsmen in the region. There seems to be a consistent agenda and history of insularity and bias against Jamaican players. There is a long list of talented Jamaican players who are discarded the moment they fail, while other players are given endless opportunities after numerous failures. Thats why I support the Jamaica Go It Alone approach since our players are being undermined by some CWI members and some fans, especially VOD and his band of Dotties.
Looks like consistency is only for Yardies
@cricketmad
Look at Kirk McKenzie, the youth shouldered West Indies batting against arguably the best test team in the world, then as soon as he failed, he was quickly discarded. While other players who failed, not only against Australia but continued their poor performances are given numerous opportunities. Indications of insularity and double standards.
@Slippery Fella
Why you always defending mediocrity? Brandon King averages 27.32 after 58 ODIS? In a day and age when Bat dominates balls due to relaxed fielding restrictions this is simply not good enough as an opener.
You are the insular one for consistently championing mediocrity in most of your posts. Why you don't try to figure out why Jamaican cricket consistently pushes out mediocre players.
@voiceofreason
Most fans on the boards are aware of your very insular views and comments, from the time you supported Sammy with a lifetime average of 23.0. While your hypocrisy has no bounds, now you are requesting the removal of a player with 28.0, totally forgetting your defence of Sammy. More importantly, many of other players on the team have poorer average than King. Blatant hypocrisy and insularity, fortunately you are in no selection position, as you would have filled West Indies team with your non performing Dotties.
@Slipfeeler
@cricketmad
The disingenuous one made sure to insert"Opener" so men like Chase who are worse cannot be compared. So let's compare all ODI opener since 2000 to now. Start with Devon Smith and Fletcher.
@Brerzerk
Start with Devon Smith
watch your mouth. Larr would not like this.
@Brerzerk
You are so correct, here are the stats that the hypocritical one supported:
Devon Smith test average 23.78
ODI 24.62
Fletcher ODI 14.16
T20 19.68
Athanaze Test 25.0
ODI 23.50
Chase Test 24.45
ODI 26.23
T20 22.08
@Slipfeeler
1) ease up from the McKenzie hype Boss as it dilutes other great posts that you make. McKenzie needs to earn his way back into WI selection, he did not do that this year.
if the numbers you submit are correct:
2) Devon Smith test average 23.78 - ODI 24.62 - - - direct quote from VOR - "he must be persisted with"
3) Fletcher ODI 14.16 - T20 19.68 - - - direct quite from VOR - "he is Fletchial"
4) Athanaze Test 25.0 - ODI 23.50 - - - hard to make a case to drop King and go silent on Athanaze.
Equally hard not to make a case that VOR is indeed hypocritical or comes up short in the brain department. I suspect it is the former.
@JoeGrine
I agree with you that the youth should be given an opportunity to redeem his career, just like other failed players, especially since itβs obvious that the youth is one of the more talented West Indies batsmen who should be managed properly and coached adequately.
Has Sammy shown consistency in his own playing career either with the bat or bowl?
Truth be told he consistently was a yamlicking tailender and consistenly bowled the ball slow.
@Slippery Fella
Sammy batted at 7-8 and Brandon King opens the innings . What foolishness are you talking?
Brandon King is a poor Man's Samuels and you should be glad that Sammy and this CWI Admin believes in him and have persisted with him even to the point of giving him an all-format contract for another 2 years!
Yet you cussing Sammy left right and center.
@JoeGrine
@Slipfeeler
At least Devon Smith dominated something what has Brandon dominated at regional level???
Fletcher is a Millionaire!
Athanaze was already dropped and has recently returned to the team so wheel and come again!
@voiceofreason
VOD, everyone knows that you are just desperately seeking excuses, since Sammy prides himself as an All-rounder that he is capable with both bat and ball. Additionally, the most difficult position in the batting line up is that of an Opener, based on that fact, King is actually one of our more relatively successful openers. Remember when Hope was failing as test cricket opener, you and other fans were saying that Hope should be moved further down the batting order. How comes you hypocrite is not requesting that King be moved down the batting order instead of being removed? I cannot believe that you are stuck on regional and domestic cricket stats, when we all know that most regional bullies cannot buy runs in international cricket, like your buddies.
