@Dukes

Unsure what your point is.

To the best of my knowledge, DaSilva hasn’t put down a catch that ultimately cost WI a test match.

Neither did Ridley Jacobs, Denesh Ramdin, or Shane Dowrich to the best of my knowledge.

if you suggesting that Imlach’s keeping has won West Indies a match……then we just need to agree to disagree.

@imusic

BTW….we have different recollections regarding why Imlach replaced DaSilva in Pakistan.
As I recall, DaSilva was dropped because he wasn’t making enough runs. Not because of a deficiency in his wicketkeeping.

For the record Sammy did not drop DaSilva that happened under Coley. Neither of the two are the answer. Jahmar Hamilton should be given a try as he had one test match and is clearly as good a batsman and glovesman as any of the two mentioned. Then Bowen - Tuckett can be groomed through A team to take over in 2 years, maybe sooner. If Josh can prove himself as a batsman so be it.

Imlach must score runs and must score now. One more test to do this and every test matters these days in the age of WTC. Not only a series draw is on the line but valuable WTC points.

Again if West Indies are to be competitive in the Test arena their wicketkeeper must average 35+. Gone are the days when any team relies just on the batting of the top 6. Yes it is a bonus but it is a bonus that has become essential in modern day cricket.

Well, DaSilva missed catches and missed stumpings at critical moments in some matches, Ramdin did the same but improved a lot as he got older. However, the Selectors were unfair to Hamilton for years, he has been the best gloveman in the region for a long time and one of the most consistent batters in the region for a few years. He should have played more than one Test.

U R CRAZY.
Dujon did not average 35.
More FUNDAMENTALLY you say the wicketkeeper should average 35+ when the batsmen are averaging 25-
Like Sammy the # 7 needs to score more runs than 1-5
This is why the world is in the mess it is in.ALLYUH HAVE NO FCUKING SENSE.

I GONE
THIS IS A WASTE OF MY TIME

serious indictment of wi fc cricket imlach has 6 centuries and avrages mid 30's yet he does not look that talented with the bat at the higher level so far.

i was in a airport watching one of these wi cricket podcasts and a guy said you should try campbell or athanaze as wicketkeepers cause they did it in their youth i don't know must be in some club match i presume 😅

@Dukes

Hamilton after 113 FC matches have only 6 tons as does Imlach after 35. Imlach has a higher FC average as well.

They all comparing him with Athanaze, who bat at 3.

Fair to say, but Coley did not drop Da Silva from the squad.

I think they have different skill levels and it would be a good idea to rotate them depending on conditions.

Da silva is better batting against pace and Imlach is better in slower spin friendly conditions but poor against pace.

Keeping against pace is equal, but Imlach shades it when up to the wicket against spin.

Simple for me , play Imlach in slow turning conditions and Da Silva where pace is the norm.

How about we get even just one West Indian batsman to average 35+ in test cricket first before we make those demands of the wicketkeeper.
